[Gallery] Iran - Iraq war

After Iranian revolution

US need someone to Interfere in Iran , and Iraq was the perfect Lamb to arm up and start a war with Iran
Both Nations weakened each other to point their economies went back to 1940's strength.

Iraq may have been promised a greater role in Arab world because back in 70's Saudia Arabia was still being transformed and was a very under developed nation

However Iraq itself was betrayed in 1990's Gulf war
  • So both Iraq and Iran ended up being a pawn in game run by Israel and USA
  • Iraq at one point was at war with Israel in 70's , and thus formed a Union with Syria , Syria had unilaterally accepted cease fire against Iraq's wishes to these two nations ended up souring up relations , so logically the Iraq's once mighty Armed forces were weakened by a War against Iran
  • Today the same excuses for sanctions are being used up against Iran

"Beit al-Mokkadas 2 offensive"
(Google Translate)
On December 25, 1366 according to the Iranian calendar (January 15, 1988 according to ours), the forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran launched the Beit al-Mokkadas 2 offensive on the northern front. This was one of the Iranian operations in the course of progressive advancement in the mountains of Iraqi Kurdistan in 1987-88, in this case it was supposed to expand control over the territories to the west of the previously occupied Mavat. Despite the difficult weather conditions, over 70% of the targets were occupied in a few days of fighting.

. . . . . . .
A World War I style war of attrition using modern weaponry ... you really can't think of anything worse than that to be honest.
