Future World Aircraft Carrier comparison

no body can beat USA on ACC

:)..can't argue with you on that. They are the only ones operating "Super carriers" carriers over 70,000 tonnes. There is a reason why whenever there is a conflict in the world every US President since the Cold War era has first asked "Where is the nearest Carrier". The rumored INS Vishal could come close to comparison but US has numbers too.

How many of AC's are we going to have in future?

2 by 2020 (Vikramaditya and 1Vikrant Class), 3rd (Vikrant Class) by 2025. Rumors of an INS Vishal nuclear powered carrier is floating. So make that 3 confirmed possibly 4.

.
yes. but for now. in future china may come up with better carriers which may beat even US carriers in size, weight and number of fighters deployed.
My only issue about Chinese capability is that they don't have suitable aircraft. Their J-XX programs have built incredible machines for traditional airforce roles. Carrier based planes are a whole different animal.

WRONG, April 28, 2011 -

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Nirmal Kumar Verma, on Thursday said a second indigenous aircraft carrier (IAC) for the Navy “is a long way off".

“Currently, there are two carriers under construction. The future Navy is based on two carrier battle groups (CBG), one on either coast. And if you have to ensure two CBGs, there has to be a third one. But the stage at which it happens is obviously linked to funding and today, there are greater funding priorities over a third aircraft carrier for the Navy.”

I know this.Which is why I have taken a margin of 12 -13 years between the two carriers my friend :).

Navy Chief also said 6 years ago that a nuclear submarine is long way off but now we know i will come into service next year.

You said 3 confirmed, possibly 4. It is actually 2 confirmed, all else speculation!

This is India we are talking about, so nuke sub in active service next year, take it with a bucket of salt. Let it happen first, then boast about it, cos I can give u plenty of examples of planned stuff not entering service on time, but inducted years later, if at all!

Well...let me count.
Current Carrier INS Viraat is expected to be kept in service till 2020 although with major maintenance. (One)
INS Vikrant (IC 1) is expected to join 2012-2013 (two)
INS Vikramaditya is expected to be delivered by 2012-2013 (Three)
IC 2 construction has started (BTW it has steam catapult launch) is expected to be commissioned by 2017 (four) but I expect delays and will go to 2020-2021 to be fair around the time INS Viraat is retired(So 3 again).

INS Vishaal could be IC2 or an entirely new carrier. But yes 4 would be speculation. 3 is confirmed.

I'm talking about ships being built right now, 2 confirmed, all else speculation!

Post a link regarding IC 2 work has started with catapult. (Ideally not wikipedia)

Dude once again 3 ships will be built /refitted by 2020. Vikramaditya, Vikrant and IC2 (undergoing conceptual studies)
Link regarding catapult.

Indian Navy prefers Emals on new aircraft carriers

Indian Navy is inclined to fit the under development Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (Emals) on its new aircraft carriers, instead of ski jumps.

Emals is currently being developed by General Atomics for future US aircraft carriers.

Both, the currently operational but aging INS Viraat, and the on-order-since-for-ever INS Vikramaditya are fitted with ski jumps to assist take off.

"When catapult technology improves, we are looking at building conventional carriers with electric rather than steam catapults," says former Chief of Naval Staff Adm. Sureesh Mehta.

The Navy has projected a requirement of at least five carriers to effectively patrol the country's 7,500 km. (4,660 mi.) coastline.

Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) is currently building INS Vikrant, a 40,000 ton aircraft carrier designed with the help of Italian company Fincantieri under Project 71. Work on the second aircraft carrier is expected to start before the first one is delivered to the Navy by the end of 2014.

@ Vibs, u r not making any sense, in post 25 u say:

"IC 2 construction has started (BTW it has steam catapult launch) is expected to be commissioned by 2017"

and in post 27 u say:

"IC2 (undergoing conceptual studies)"

so is it undergoing studies or has work actually started? If it is the later, post a link to prove your claims!

The link you posted is from 2009, so is outdated! I have posted the most up to date news regarding Indian Navy's carrier plans in post 20, straight from IN chief of staff, u know something he doesn't?

hmmmm...:what:....Will give that to you. Keel laying for IC 2 was expected this year. No word yet. Will update once we get news on that.Let's settle on 1 functional, 2 being built and 3rd being conceptualized but awaiting concrete data.

Its quiet an incomplete analysis; if you are talking about future then just wait for 15 years & Russian carriers will be quiet lethal with naval based MiG & Sukhoi planes, with a big load of all-feared P-500 family missiles. The article also never mentions that why US is improving its ESSM capability.. simply because there still occur fears that Klub family especially the canisterised version is the pain in the a$$ for European/US naval forces.
DefenceDog: U.S. Navy Is Preparing To Beat Off The Russian Missiles
From my personal point of view small carriers ( as opted by UK/NATO) with an avalanche of VTOL planes is best option; but mind it that such planes lack the punch that is needed to be an offensive or more still an AirSuperiority vehicle. Russian upcoming carriers as far as I know will be much more spacious & this coincides with their school of thought of carrying heavy payload in not only air vehicles (the big Su-35 or MiG-35) but also in the water vehicles
