MiG-21. First flight 1956. Introduced 1959. Served in 60 countries, more than any other fighter jet. More than 10,000 were built. Still used by many countries today. Mach 2 speed. Robust. Low RCS due to use of nose cone intake. The most iconic fighter jet ever.

JF-17. First flight 2003. Introduced 2007. Developed from Super 7, a heavily upgraded and modified J-7 / F-7 which is Chinese copy of MiG-21. Latest technologies such as DSI, digital quadruplex FBW, MAWS, has full glass cockpit, to be upgraded with AESA and IRST.

Correct. So was YF-17 which developed into F-18. These days F-16 and F-18 are considered mid size built around 1 large engine or 2 mid size engines. JF-17 and Gripen and F-5 and F-20 and Tejas are small size, built around 1 mid size engine or 2 small size engines.

Rubbish, anyone who believes this garbage is an idiot at best.

JF-17 is a clean sheet design. It shares NOTHING in common with Mig-21 design philosophy.

JF-17s DNA came from PAF's experience with F-16s and its comprehensive test flights of F-20 Tigershark and JAS-39 Gripen.

the aircraft was designed by China. mig-21 or j-7 was the most advanced aircraft in PLAAF inventory for a long time.

Since Pakistan was under sanctions for most of the 1990s is there any record of JAS-39 ever flown by PAF pilots ?

Wrong.

JF-17 was designed by a joint team of Sino Pakistani scientists and engineers. The design requirements were laid out by the customer, PAF not Chengdu.

Pakistan tested both F-20 in late 80s and Gripen in 90s.

The cancelled Mig-33 was the base from which this JF-17 evolved from. The cancelled Mig-33 program was sold off to the Chinese in the mid-90's by the Russians.
