If India decides to wage a war against Pakistan, I predict it to be in December through February, when Chinese will be stuck in their camps in the horrible Himalayan cold weather. China cannot move its force through the Himalayas in winter.now if in war with Pakistan...bangladesh instead of China intervenes in all the ways mentioned in your posts(peaceful demonstration
ruled out)..we'd declare war....and be ready to handle the second front....cuz there are few countries that can fill in china's shoes...and Bangladesh is not one of them.
Now, comes the small BD factor. Yes, BD is weakest among the three countries. However, still then it has 150,000 troops plus another 50,000 reservists. Also, there is BDR consisting of 67,000 troops. BDR is certainly a fighting force, but without heavy equipments.
We may forget about the more than a million plus Ansar troops, all of whom have been trained to operate only small fire arms like rifles, machine guns or stenguns. They are trained to fight only a defensive war, but a war may require them to be mobilized to the border.
There was a time in Pakistan time when the then 50,000 member Ansars knew how to shoot only a .303 rifle, but many of them did not have weapons. They did not have even army fatigues or even shoes. But, these barefooted Ansars fought against the Pakistan army sometimes with bamboo sticks, and more than 550 of them were killed in action.
So now, if a 200,000 regular BA troops are called to march towards our western border, then what do you think of the reaction of the IA strategists. Even if our troops are there for picnic only, the IA generals will not take a chance. In fact no general will take a chance.
It was in the early 2007 when emergency was declared in BD and 100,000 troops were ordered to come out of the cantonments. Even then the reaction of the IA was to take necessary precaution. IA also mobilized more than that number, not at the border, but to the cantonments nearest to the border. Any general of any army would do it.
So, in time of real war against Pakistan, India will not wish the dispatching of Bangladesh army troops to the border. Because, it will change the whole strategy, India will have to move an equal number of or more troops towards east. This will certainly loosen its grip against Pakistan. What I want to say is that even a weak BD can change the equation in times of war.
