Author and journalist Siddhartha Deb analyzes the unfolding events in the region, arguing that stripping Kashmir of its special status is part of right-wing Indian prime minister Narendra Modi’s ongoing efforts to reinforce nationalist rhetoric and policy. "This is basically Modi’s way of distracting from the large-scale problems that continue to plague India under his rule," Deb says. "This is a kind of escalation of violence, an escalation of exercise of power from Delhi."

Then what was the point of removing this and causing all this trouble ? By doing this, we have also taken away their flag, their constitution, whoever wants to settle can settle there from outside, basically a betrayal, for no great end results. Stories of this betrayal will pass from generation to generation. The status quo was suiting us just fine and we had sympathy from the entire world. This just reminds of the demonetisation move, completely rubbish move that failed. Hoping a strong judge in the Supreme Court takes it up and doesn't care about popular opinion of the jahil people in India who don't understand anything about the law or the sanctity of a country's constitution, and then just strike this move down.
