First of all ~ constitutionally there is no one who is called the Father of India.

Actually that is your opinion ~ how I view pre-Independence Gandhi is very very different from how I view post independence Gandhi. While there is a good reason to celebrate the pre-independence Gandhi there is nothing to write home about post independence Gandhi.
And as for Godse being bracketed with Gandhi ~ you are putting words in my mouth. What gives the idea that I suggested that ? All I said was neither was Gandhi the Ram nor Godse the Raavan as is portrayed now. There was no white and black in that case. Everything was in gray. Why is that hard for certain people to understand ? Why do they have to demonize Godse in order to lionize Gandhi ? Did you forget that it was Gandhiji who mixed religion with politics with his hare-brained idea in giving the call for Khilafat ? And no there is nothing to suggest that I would have been 'shot' for expressing dissent. This is the same lame argument trotted out to those who prefer Subash Bose over Gandhi as well. You agree or not, it is a fact that the aura of Gandhiji has some exaggerated portions in it as well.
Even a great man like George Washington booted out the Loyalists after the American revolution. That is why America is the celebrated democracy today. Their foundation stones were very strong. Why is that haram in case some Indian (Godse) had a similar line of thought ?
BTW thank God we are not living in Gandhi's India either. No liberalization, no urbanization, disbanding army, only gram swaraj and spinning wheels in every house. You would have been planting your crops now and not typing these posts in a laptop.
We are living in an India that was brought up by many people with their combined efforts ~ not because of a single man. If at all, I think Late Shri PVNR played a more important rrole in building the 'modern India' than Gandhi.
