What's new

Free From Vietnam

No way! If you haven´t noticed, America and Vietnam are negotiating since several years over a closer tie: a strategic partnership. The talk has stalled at late.

The US side demands Vietnam to improve human rights, economic reforms, division of power, reducing the power of the communist party, fighting corruption, etc... while Vietnam demands the US to recognise it as market economy, annulment of weapons embargo, supports for economy, military and so on.

So now Vietnam has nearly fullfilled all of the US demands, including improvement of human rights. Do you understand now the significance of the news?
i understand now. in short, vietcong beg US to accept vietnam as a normal country, in return allow US to interfere in your internal affairs.GOOD DEAL!

.
Good news for VN-US relationship, China surely is worrying now coz she's losing her little communist brother.

LOL, never mind the Republic Vietnam back again in Vietnam. Here i have seen the Yellow flag first.

Ur opinions were ideal, for the West all Communist countries are guilty coz the opposite between principle of communist party and western capitalist government is implacable. Yep take the human rights and Vietnamese need them, once ur Vietnamese ppl dig out more darkness and find out ur communist government not as good as u think, then these Western gifts will quickly turn into domestic riot coz ppl have the right to ovethrow a failure government.(Of course the western government also using army and tank to suppress)

I admit the human right is good, more rights more better, but one fatal weakness easily lead to ppl disunity. Coz each person has his own interests, if emphasize more personal right then less sacrifice and dedication, it's useless for a developing country to focus or force ppl to work hard together, no economic growth no more rights to enjoy. Anyway in a poor country, the human right was a wonderful excuse to attract lazy ppl and get rid of legal laws.

Again Vietnamese need more human rights, i feel pleasure indeed ! In 20/21th century,a developing country never turn into a developed country without to sacrifice 2-3 generations of
whole ppl working hard together with none human rights.(how the West become the developed country and build wealth, they just rob and setup colonies in ur country in 18-19th century. ), now today the West teach ur developing country how to enjoy the human right, take it pls~!!!

You can say what you want. It is not all necessary bad what from America comes. Vietnam as usual is just pragmatic. By the way, the relationship with China remains unchanged, even if US and Vietnam come closer.

Dude, the Republic of Vietnam is dead. The overseas Vietnamese use the yellow flag as national symbol. They dislike the red communist flag. Vietnam is united, nobody wants a division nor chaos.

Look at your brothers and sisters in Taiwan. They enjoy more freedoms and human rights than mainlanders.

Why would the US be friends with the enemy that defeated them.

Why not? We make friends and allies in the world, regardless of they were our enemies or not. See France and Siam (Thailand).

you cann't deny it ,right? and i didn't say it is good or not. and vietnam is already enemy of us from 1970s on,so nobody of us worry about if our relationship will be worse.

Why overseas Vietnamese dislike today formal Vietnam country's flag? if these overseas Vietnamese think former goverment's flag more orthodox and legality than current Red communist flag, i think it indicated troubles between domestic Vietnamese and overseas Vietnamese, disunity at the government identity. And u had told me former government's flag is illegal in today Vietnam.

Yes they have been enjoying more freedoms and human rights than mainland ppl in China, but the cost is during recent 20 years the economy of mainland China capture and far far ...overtake today Taiwan, the living conditons in mainland also overtake Taiwan.
Ask the Taiwanese "What's the mean of last losing 10 years?" u could get the true answer. It's the major reason why more and more today Taiwan young ppl willing to live and find jobs in mainland China.

The human right is good, but many human rights easily ruin a developing country coz no forced labors, no economy growth, no new jobs, no money earning, no infrastructure investments, no more business investments, no technology update, no domestic goods design, no domestic economy, no large the middle class and the rich, no developed country, just B@llsh!t to enjoy human rights in a poor developing country.

U wanna enjoy more human rights, fine u can after u and ur childern living in a develped country.

To be accurate: the majority of the overseas Vietnamese today are offsprings from South Vietnamese, the former Republic of Vietnam. They fled after the defeat in 1975. So it is understandable that they dislike communism.

Don´t make mistake and assume that overseas Vietnamese dislike their motherland. A Vietnamese is always patriot.

I agree in part. I believe China will follow Taiwan´s path and give the people more freedoms in the future as soon as the prosperity arrives the majority of Chinese.

Yes China will, after she get more stronger.
In China and China internet, we also discussed this issus many times. The human right is good, but little useful for a developing country, limited human rights r fine but many human rights easily block the development coz each person has his own interests to influence the others, no other sacrifices no any progress coz development need dozens of year time and uninterrupted investments.

China developing way just like the Japan and Korea, from one less human rights poor country step by step develop into now more human rights developed country. Anyway before achieve the success, 2-3 generations of whole ppl need patience and dedication, our generation and generation's generation can living in a rich conditions and powerful country, enjoying more human rights.

@cnleio

Let me take the case of Mr. Quan to show what is this "human rights" thing? He was initially charged with terrorism and put into prison for 8 months without trial. I am not here to judge if he is guilty or not.

In Germany, the police can keep you in detention for max. 48 hours without trial. After the deadline, a judge decides if a suspect should be freed or kept for further investigations. The police is asked to show evidence. There are further restrictions about handling a suspect.

There are no news come from Viet Nam so this can't be in favors for Viet Nam.
