France urges citizens to leave Pakistan amid anti-French protests

Waz, I'm going to add to this a personal observation over the years

I have noticed, not only does child marriage happen a lot in countries that tend to be 3rd world or poorer nations, BUT it happens overwhelmingly in the 'conservative' countries i.e. the more conservative the country, the more sex is taboo, the higher rate of child marraige, sexual attacks and overall sexual abuse of women.

Sick person trying to find excuses for his depraved sickness.

To an extent yes. But I've also seen in many counties where there is a lax attitude to sex, minors are horribly exploited. But then that is developing countries as well e.g. South and Central American states.

In pakistan you get to see 60 year olds marrying teenagers.

We are discussing french law for 18 years old and under. No place under the law being discussed was it said that incest is legal above it You just made that up. BTW, cousins marrying cousins is incest technically. So yeah, I guess it is legal in France and Pakistan.

There is no word/standard called consensualising rape, you created an oxymoron, then accused me of it, and then imagined others to follow that line of reasoning. I don't why I bother with you, all you do is lower the conversation into ignorance and then start accusing others
You're full of crap mate.

By stating x's poor policies are "consensualising rape", I am inferring an irony, not intended to be a literal legal definition because legally I know jolly well it isn't possible to have consensual rape. The whole point being made is that one might as well consensualise rape in the scenario in question. Anyone reading such a commentary who is not autistic and actually understands irony, context, implied meaning and simple rhetoric would know precisely what message I am espousing. It's precisely the same as any argument put forward in the other scenarios I described - in summary, "you may as well declare an illegal thing to be legal, because your threshold of legality on this issue of is so low anyway". Everyone on this thread knows I am saying that but you, the little wretch that you are, have deliberately obfuscated my simple post, or you actually are so autistic that you cannot comprehend the usage of the English language in this exaggerated manner.

Don't chat your call centre Grammarly app logic at me. If you don't understand contextual irony, I cannot help your autistic interpretations of straightforward English.

Now regarding the incest issue, you have provided details, not me. I am going on your commentary. You have said incest is illegal below the age of 18. So I have to infer that it is legal at 18 or above....otherwise, why would they have a specific law banning it under the age of 18??? Perhaps I'm wrong though. Is it already illegal at 18 or above? I mean, you're talking in riddles just to defend your frenchie buddies so shamelessly, I cannot figure it out. If it is already blanket illegal, why a new law declaring it illegal below 18? Please help me understand the French law on incest.

@rent4country

Right then you little turd. I'm not letting you get off now. Your deliberately confusing response regarding the incest issue was somehow designed to create doubt as to whether France has legalised incest for 18year olds and above or not. Clearly the little fukwit that you are, you are unwilling to clarify the issue. Here: Wikipedia has clarified what a shithole of a country France is:

"Countries that allow incest between consenting adult siblings include France, Spain, the Benelux and Portugal"

Now kindly explain why 15 year olds may shag in France but only if they're not siblings.

Once you've twisted yourself into knots on that, explain why French siblings can shag each other at all.

Let's be clear for everyone watching your b.s. We are not talking cousin love here. This is brothers and sisters.

Go ahead. The mic is yours.
@Dalit dude, keep a tab on this guy's defence of incest .....should be well worth a watch.

Gawd, you are going on my ignore list after this because you are clueless about what is being discussed while insisting on putting out rubbish in most topics here.

A. The only topic here I've been speaking on was the new french law - AND I was only discussing the french law that is specific to under 18.
B. I was citing what was in that NEW law. One of them was no sex was allowed among consenting family members when any party was under 18. At no point was I discussing what their law was for over 18. If you want to discuss incest over 18, that's on you.

Finally, cousin f___ is incest too in many countries- hence my statement. Whether the only kind of incest that enrages you_ is if they are happening between a brother and sister, and not cousins, that's your deal.

finally, at no point did I ever say incest of any kind is okay because my opinion was never being discussed.

GoodBye

awesome, the next step in your journey is to read articles you link to, the next step after that is to read them 3 more times and try to understand it, and then troll

I am still trying to understand your first post

No it's not, stop talking rubbish. It's like saying child rape is common in India with several high profile cases. Look at the numbers.

But child rape is very common in India, and then after doing disgusting things to the child they kill the child as well.

The French community in Pakistan is torn between disbelief, fear and annoyance in reaction to their embassy's call for them to leave the country after rioting this week by the recently proscribed Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).
Most, it seems, have decided to stay put.
In a terse three-line email, accompanied by the words “urgent”, the embassy in Islamabad on Thursday recommended its nationals and French companies to temporarily leave Pakistan, because of “serious threats”.
The email, which did not specify the nature of the risks, caused shock and consternation among the few hundred-strong French community.

Jean-Michel Quarantotti, who has taught French at the American school in Islamabad for three years, was first alerted to the embassy advisory by a student.
“I won't hide from you that at first I felt a little bit of fear, panic,” he told AFP.
“It's not my first foreign country — I did a lot before arriving in Pakistan — but I was really shocked. I didn't expect to go through this.”
His first thought was to pack up and leave, but after discussing the situation with colleagues he said reason took over from emotion.
“The Pakistanis around me advised me to stay,” he said. “They told me that they would protect me.
“It was very touching to see the solidarity around me, from people who told me: 'We are here for you, do not worry, we will defend you'.”
The embassy announcement came after days of violent protests orchestrated by the TLP after the arrest in Lahore on Monday of leader Saad Hussain Rizvi, who had called for a march on the capital to demand the expulsion of the French ambassador.
Four policemen were killed in the rioting.
The TLP has been behind several anti-France rallies since President Emmanuel Macron defended the right of Charlie Hebdo magazine to republish blasphemous sketches of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).
'Highs and lows'
Many of the French people contacted by AFP questioned the timing of the embassy's message as the government had just announced the ban on the TLP and seemed to have the situation under control.
“Yes, there are a lot of risks to live here,” said Quarantotti, “but we don't need to panic the French community with words that are badly chosen.
“We wonder a little why France needed to publicise this message at the international level, when it could have given a much more discreet message to the (French) community”.
Fellow national Julien — an assumed name because he does not wish to divulge his identity — has also chosen to stay put.
“It's a recommendation, so I won't leave,” he told AFP.
He also refused his employer's offer to repatriate him to Europe or put armed guards outside his home.
“Anyway, since October, November, it's been all ups and downs. So we'll wait for it to calm down,” the Islamabad resident said.
“The watchword is vigilance,” added Laurent Cinot, a consultant for the World Bank who arrived in the capital less than two months ago.
He said any threat was not from ordinary Pakistanis, but only the TLP.
Another Frenchman living in Lahore — who is not allowed to give his name or that of his French company for security reasons — has spent nearly ten years in Pakistan in two stints.
“Since I've been here a long time, I didn't really panic,” he said.
Still, he is the only French national contacted by AFP who will leave — on the orders of his employers.
For Cinot, the embassy message will have the unfortunate effect of sending back another very negative picture of Pakistan to France.
“It does not deserve it because, honestly, it is a magnificent country with people who are quite fascinating and kind [...] extremely kind,” he said.

Pakistan: France recalls 15 of its diplomats

Some officials have already left the country, a few days after anti-French protests.

In New Delhi

Cold snap between France and Pakistan. On Thursday, when the embassy in Islamabad recommended that its nationals leave the country "temporarily", it recorded in the wake of the departure of fifteen of its diplomats. This measure concerns several services of the embassy, including the cultural service and the French Development Agency. “They are mostly assistants to department heads and secretaries. Some have already left the country, others will return to Paris in the coming days, "said the French side.

The recall of diplomats is the latest episode in the deterioration of bilateral relations which has lasted for five months. Tensions began to mount on November 16, 2020. The Pakistani government then signed an agreement with the Islamist party Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) whose activists paralyzed access to the capital. This officially banned movement, which aims to defend the Prophet Muhammad against blasphemy, demands the expulsion of the ambassador and the boycott of French products, in retaliation for Emmanuel Macron's comments on the right to caricature. The TLP also refused to allow Charlie Hebdo to publish cartoons of Muhammad on the first day of the trial for the November 2015 attacks, on September 2.

The November 2020 agreement stipulates that Imran Khan's government will implement TLP demands within three months in exchange for stopping the protests. After further negotiations earlier this year, the deadline has been extended to April 20.

However, Pakistani authorities on Wednesday reneged on the deal by banning the TLP. Its leader, Saad Hussain Rizvi, was arrested on April 12. Clashes between police and the TLP left at least fifteen law enforcement officials injured in Lahore on Sunday. Three Islamist activists were reportedly killed while seven police and paramilitaries were taken hostage.

Eager to spare his electoral base while calling for order, Prime Minister Imran Khan posted a statement on Twitter on Saturday: “Our government acted against the TLP […] when it challenged state authority and used violence. I also call on Western governments that have banned Holocaust denial to use the same logic and penalize those who spread hateful messages against Muslims by insulting our prophet. "

Extremely rare decision

While the French ambassador to Islamabad remains in office, the recall of diplomats illustrates Paris’s impatience in the face of a crisis that has lasted more than five months. Despite everything, the French decision is extremely rare: even when the country was the scene of regular attacks during the insurgency between the army and the Pakistani Taliban in 2008, the French authorities did not repatriate their personnel. By recalling fifteen diplomats, the Quai d'Orsay denotes a change in its diplomacy in South Asia which is increasingly aligned with that of India.

For a long time, France had ignored the rivalry between the two nuclear powers in the region, forging a strategic partnership with India in 1998 while working to sign contracts with Pakistan. Until the early 2010s, Paris and Islamabad had laid the foundations for close collaboration in the military, especially air and naval fields. However, a loan project of 400 million euros will never see the light of day. Since then, Paris has favored its strategic partnership with New Delhi and has distanced itself from Pakistan.

The French Embassy in Pakistan has advised all French citizens and businesses in Pakistan to temporarily evacuate pakistan because of recent anti-French demonstrations in many places. On April 18th 15 diplomats in Pakistan were recalled by the French government.

As of April 18, 15 diplomats from the embassy’s cultural department, foreign aid agencies and other departments have returned to France, Le Figaro newspaper reported on April 18. France’s foreign ministry says more French diplomats will be recalled in the coming days.
The diplomatic turmoil was triggered by anti-French protests in Pakistan. Large-scale violent protests against France in Pakistan’s major cities this week have paralysed parts of the country, local media reported on April 14. The French Embassy in Pakistan therefore recommended that it be necessary for all French citizens and businesses to leave Pakistan temporarily. An email from the French embassy said French citizens and employees were advised to leave the country temporarily on existing commercial airline flights because of serious threats to the security interests of the French in Pakistan.
Le Figaro newspaper reported that the street protests were largely orchestrated by the Sunni fundamentalist group The Pakistan Rabaik Movement (TLP), which strongly opposes Charlie Hebdo’s portrayal of the Prophet Muhammad and has called on the Pakistani government to expel the French ambassador to Pakistan. At least three people have been killed and 15 injured in clashes between the group and Pakistani police.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has previously said the TLP challenges the authority of the government, which has taken steps to combat such behaviour. But at the same time, he said, “I call on Western governments to use the same logic to punish those who spread hatred against Muslims and insult the Prophet while banning Holocaust denial speech.” ”
French President Emmanuel Macron said last October that the media had the right to publish cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad. His statement was considered blasphemous by many Muslims. Since then, anti-French sentiment has been brewing in Pakistan for months.
you mind sharing a different source, perhaps official travel advisory????

Holy shit. This guy an Indian in disguise?

Good riddance, but the French should have also removed their ambassador. This is a false sense of pride by France. As long as the French ambassador is still in Pakistan France has nothing to cheer about.
