President Francois Hollande says France is continuing discussions with Russia about finalising a mammoth weapons deal following France’s decision to suspend delivery of a warship last year citing Russia’s role in stoking conflict in Ukraine.
"We are negotiating to find a way out of the crisis," Hollande said Sunday on French television Canal +, although he failed to elaborate further.

The Mistral-class helicopter carrier was part of the biggest arms sale ever by a NATO country to the Kremlin. But Russia’s actions in Ukraine have made the French government reconsider the billion-euro deal, even if it means refunding payments to Russia.

Last week Russian President Vladimir Putin warned France that Russia expects its advance payments to be returned if France fails to deliver the ship as agreed.

The French president, who this week is due to meet Putin during a trip to Armenia, said "we will see if we discuss it Friday".

Hopefully Russia cancels it. Russia is over 20 times the size of France. Russia doesn't need to buy arms from a small country

I still can't understand why Russia went to purchase LHDs from France when they are very advance in building ship?

They are indeed advanced relative to you people. But the west/U.S are simply more advanced overall than Russia. Thats the reason why.

If szie really mattered as much as you think, then Russia would have been the world's only super power for centuries, and a small island with few millions like Britain would have never ruled the world. LOOL China would have also been a superpower longggg ago, the U.S would stand no chance at all.

Your logic is very funny bro. Size isnt always what matters.

Britain never had a foothold on continental Europe other than Gibraltar. Beating a bunch of naked abos armed with spears isn't what I call impressive.

China has always been a super power. This is a multi power world. China is not the only super power. The US is a super power too.

short answer they want to get france technology , Russia lacks tech now pretty much in air and sea manufacture , you cant compare nowadays US and Europe technology to russia's i am not hating on the russians though they are still in the game in missles and and sam's in general , this mistral tech will help them to build a new carrier for them , just by peaking into the mistral tech

Russians are typically blue eyed. France, ha, a bunch of brown eyed Mediterraneans. France is also a small country compared to Russia. Russia does not need any technology from France.

Since i'm blue eyed and my kids are,so we are Russians lol.
If Russia wanted to buy from abroad, that means that they can't build it themselves.
It is since 2004 that they're building the Ivan Gren.. is it in service now ? As far as i know,NO.
And... seriously,by following your logic,Sudan is a superpower compared to France? (Because FRENCE IZ TWO SMAL)
