But isn't Russia hitting them too?

Yeah, but I'm sure the French are not taking any risks.

Yeah, but I'm sure the French are not taking any risks.
I think it is more like a show of force than anything else.. The US bombed them, the Iraqis bombed them , the Frenche bombed them on may occasions too, the Brits many times, There is certainly something wrong with all this, sometimes we hear that they get weapons from the US and Europe and other times we hear that the US and Europe is bombing them!? This is insanity at its best..

Best of Luck to France ... Destroy those ISIS Mother Fukers , and i hope French will do their best to avoid Civilian Causalities.

I'm fine by that but not if we have to take Bibi in return.

But as long as DavidS came by, all my condolences on the loss
of Shimon Peres. He was one of those rare warriors that learn
from the price of war the value of peace. That's close to my heart.

Yeah well, luv you too mate but no thanks!

Great evening all, I'm about to have friends and the son over for
rum, Texas Hold'em and chat on manly concerns. Cheers, Tay.
Thank you friend, like many here in Israel , I saw him as the last father of the nation.
While his death is national , it felt personal to me , although I met him only once in the army

He was a great personal friend of India too.

He will be sorely missed. He always carried a gravitas with him, someone you would silence everyone around you immediately just to listen what he has to say.

France has started airstrikes against the Islamic State group, also known as ISIS, from aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, according to reports.

Good wishes to French forces

Let those Jehadi Yahoos know they cannot just get away after all their atrocities and killings of innocents and ultimately brought to justice by civil society.

@waz You're too good and so are loukoums.

@Vergennes And the small bottle of gniaule in the old ration packs
that you gave your candies for, either that or the Goldos. Nothing like
a non-smoking Muslim mate for those trades! 8-)

@Nilgiri :secret: @Penguin Click here.

Why all this support group is necessary, even a nuclear attack submarine?

The nuclear attack submarine is there to defend the carrier on deployment.
It always is. For instance, Iran or Oman or Germany is looking to start a war
with France, knocking off the CDG would be a first strike à la Pearl Harbour.

The
images-1.jpeg
is to the carrier group as the

to you and me :
You just don't leave home without it.

This is insanity at its best..
No! A major ground offensive by WestCiv members cannot be had for obvious
geo-political reasons. Those serious enough, mainly America and France have
the minimum amount of troops to help in Iraq but the regional players are those
with lots of men involved : Iran on both fronts and Türkyie & Russia in Syria.

The on-going bombing campaign is having results too. First Daesh' expansion was
stopped in Iraq were targeting is less risky. Concurrently, their infrastructures and
thus their potential were diminished. As a result, they are losing ground everyday.

and i hope French will do their best to avoid Civilian Causalities.

We already are doing our best to avoid casualties mate as you can guess with the
presence of CAESAR batteries on Mossoul. We made between 8 and 12 of these
available to the Iraqi SFs which we also train so they can keep their good work going.
Such an automated canon fires fast up to 38km with metric precision and re-positions
very fast too.
They are there precisely to avoid over-reliance on airstrikes in a dense environment.

Great day all, Tay.

I am not Doubting on French Abilities or will to avoid Civilians Causalities , hope you did not get me wrong :)
its just hard to see young kids as age 4-5 coming out of rubles created by Rough Air strikes ..

those Canon's sounds pretty damn good ..

It's always hard and it shows you have a soul!
Civilians always lose in wartime.

PERFORMANCES :
  • Road speed : 80 km/h.
  • Autonomy : 600 km.
  • Firing rate : 6 shots per minute.
  • Range : 40 km.
  • Set-up time : less than a minute.
  • Bearing : on + or -17°.
  • Elevation : of 19 à 68 °.
Numerical data :
  • Empty weight : 15,4 tons.
  • Combat ready weight : 18 tonnes.
  • Shells capacity : 7 tonnes.
  • Lenght : 10 m.
  • Height : 3,7 m.
  • Width : 2,55 m.
So they find a spot, fire a dozen times and move to a new place
20-30 kliks away and repeat in half an hour with targets spread
over a 100 Km away for each other?

Nice indeed, have a great evening, Tay.

There is another face to this coin: France sold its Rafale after intervening in Syria, the same with the US, F-15s, F-16s and F-18s are being purchased by GCC like never before, the same with the EF Typhoon when Britain got involved the sales increased and new GCC members who didn't take it into consideration before started asking for some, add to all this the newcomer Russia who is selling its weapons like hot cakes, just after 6 months of intervention.
So, apart from all the troubles in Syria and Iraq, this became a test bed for European, American and Russian high end systems, it seems like they are fighting for global market shares for their weapons of all sorts and they found a "real" test bed while Syrian and Iraqi citizens play the Guinea Pigs in this laboratory of weapons...

Agreed ^^^ but that's always true to some extent,
no matter the conflict.
Can't have a return of experience without an experiment!

Good day, Tay.

Every world power(P4 powers) is showing their military might and toys in Syria. I can already see more buyers lining up:sniper::ph34r:
:enjoy:

They were.
It was planned that they would go back at the autumn in the prospect of the operation to re-capture Mosul.
But the aircraft carrier deployment will be very short (only one month) as it has to prepare for its major retrofit.
-
As we will be left without any aircraft carrier during 18 months,we could deploy some Rafale M on US aircraft carriers...... or simply deploy them in our bases in Jordan or in the UAE.

If you want to support us,please keep Hollande in your country, make sure he cannot leave.

Reason big world powers like France and Britain need AT LEAST 2-3 Aircraft carriers, so we can have one in sea at ALL TIMES. France should build one more, and we can both be sharing our carriers interchangeably depending on circumstances when needed. That way we will always have one in the high seas ready for combat, since even with our two carriers who will be operational these coming years, we will still be short of one more to have one deploy-able at all times.

But isn't Russia hitting them too?
Russia is hitting ISIS ONLY marginally. Their real and main targets have so far been largely FSA nad other rebel groups fighting Assad, not ISIS. So western powers and Russia have some conflict of interests regarding this, reason both sides often bring along such large complex military arsenal you mentioned. Why do you think Russia even deployed its most sophisticated air defence systems in Syria? Is it for ISIS?
So as you can see its standard procedure, reason all the major powers have deployed quite sophisticated military systems in Syria( we even deployed our Astute nuclear subs there as well.):cheesy:
So its a show of force and just in case the other opponent has some funny ideas.

This is an old map anyway, each power has increased their military deployments in the region since then.

Russia once deployed its aircraft carrier in Syria as well.

Which would fit the CJEF to a T 'cuz let's face it, a carrier does wonders
for CAS over a rough jaunt far away from home. Safe skies, that kinda thing!

For example,
The option to rely on each other, for limited periods, for carrier-strike capability is a case in point. For some in the UK,
this represents an unac- ceptable erosion of autonomy. It is argued that continuous availability of carrier-strike capability is,
for example, necessary for the defence of the Falkland Islands.61 Power projection using aircraft carriers throws up potential political difficulties. They can be deployed at sensitive moments in crises to exert pressure on particular states, but such a tactic would require close political coordination to be effective.

Tay.

HMS ??? was always my favorite Royal Navy submarine:D. Right behind HMS Tallywacker of course.

Pretty hefty force the Russian Navy brought, and that map isn't up to date or even including special operations craft of PT boats, like this model photographed in Syria:

The reality is both sides are packing massive firepower.
