Fragile States Index- 2015

We are pleased to present the eleventh annual Fragile States Index. The FSI focuses on the indicators of risk and is based on thousands of articles and reports that are processed by our CAST Software from electronically available sources. We encourage others to utilize the Fragile States Index to develop ideas for promoting greater stability worldwide. We hope the Index will spur conversations, encourage debate, and most of all help guide strategies for sustainable security.

So now they have replaced this failed state with fragile state and i consider this rating as failed concept. You are what you think of yourself. If you are proud to be Afghani, Iraqi or Pakistani then would it matter how x, y, z who has no emotional connection with your country rate it as fragile or failed or whatever based on some current political or religious conflicts or any war crisis which are not permanent thing and often resulted by the wrong foreign policies of most stable or successful nations

Well i expected that Pakistan will improve to atleast 17-18 position this year owing to the improvement in security and economy.

anyway in 2014 Pakistan was ranked 10th,now 13th,hopefully next year we will improve further to something like 17-18slot and by 2017 pakistan will not be part of the top 20.

Ranking improved because they added 3 new countries.

I understand that it hurts to see one's country among the most fragile states, but if not anything this list shows us where we stand. Comparing the social indicators will give you an idea about what exactly is wrong in your country. For example in case of Pakistan GG or the group grievance is very high (10), this indicates rise in communal violence, discrimination, religious violence etcetera.
When it comes to my country,India, DP (demographic pressure) and GG are an issue. If you look closely most of the south Asian countries have a group grievance/GG issue.

Even democracy takes time to mature, given other social idnicators.
For example democracy in usa and india is never on equal footing.
Same way democracy in india and pakistan is never on equal.

Look again....
China scores very high on State legitimacy and human rights-rule of law, so now we know which one is a totalitarian state.
