Foxconn (Honhai) is in China for over a quarter century now. It is now moving assembly plants to cheap-labor destinations. This is good news because, Foxconn's presence is not becoming less in China, but, as you said, it is moving more knowledge-intensive operations in China.
I also invests in China in industries as varied as electric cars and advanced TFT-LCD panels.
This is good, I think, for both investment-hungry cheap-labor destinations and manufacturing scale-up destinations.
Foxconn operates a server-assembly plant in the US.
Chinese company headquartered in Taiwan.
You mean to say for rest of the world.. ... isn't it...That means it's a Taiwanese company, not Chinese.
By descent,Chinese. That means it's a Taiwanese company, not Chinese.
A verbal statement without any proof is useless and ridiculous.we americans can say same for china
also unlike Desi/Inyntity, han is a fabricated Identity
The details you have mentioned falls under manufacturing industry lime robotics or others. Services are way different things which you are not going to understand so easily. So chill.Nope..
Do you know "Made in China 2025"?A ten-year plan.
And last year Government focused on "Internet+" and innovation.
So that sentence "China is establishing itself in service sector" may be right in some ways but not a priority.
You can see service sector data and innovation data here↓↓(My name in Quora:五元)

Now,let me just refer to these things:
- In terms of innovation,
3D printing,Robot industry&innovation(patents account for 25%+ of the world),Crystal Chemistry,UAV,Solar Power industry----These all are China's dominant industries.I just said casually.
The following graph can prove China's advantage in innovation.

Non-manufacturing business activity(PMI)
You do not understand China's national conditions.
Have you ever heard of Third Plenary Session?
2016 Q1 the service sector/the tertiary industry GDP accounts for 56.9% of total GDP.The details you have mentioned falls under manufacturing industry lime robotics or others. Services are way different things which you are not going to understand so easily. So chill.
Again as I said your companies depend on Central govt for support. In services industry it's not Mandatory per say. And yes anyday you can compare Chinese or Indian services companies if you wish. Result would be always same. The difference is, your government is not known for efficiency or delivering policy targets.
China's private sector is more competitive and innovative than that of India and is already producing much larger value than Indian private enterprises.
By just simply looking at global IT and tech brands of China and India, you will see the huge gap.
For serviced industry one doesn't need a good government as it's private sector led. Just see how groups of Indian companies have taken to hights and more than that a countries entrepreneurship leaders take it to the level. Have you any idea how many startups are opening in Indian service sector only per day. That is whopping more than 3 companies per day and that too is five years old data taken from services industry. China is youngling in this sector. Let them first learn walking. These posters only know copy paste activities l. Fact if the natter is they rumble without thinking what is knowledge based economy and what is service sector. That is a huge investment it will create thousands of jobs but still we need a national tax regime to attract higher FDI.
True things are bueracratic and cumbersome but this new govt has already put India higher in ease of country in which to do business, still much more needs to be done but the Modi govt is pro-business.

Foxconn project is just one of tip of the iceberg happening across the country, that's from my personal experience due to relevant sector.

2016 Q1 the service sector/the tertiary industry GDP accounts for 56.9% of total GDP.
http://www.stats.gov.cn/tjgz/tjdt/201604/t20160415_1344240.html
Authorized domestic invention patents see a increase of 55.3% in Jan~Feb.
Online retail sales increased by 27.8% in the first quarter.
New energy vehicles in the first quarter continued to maintain a growth rate of more than 80%.
Third industrial added value increased by 7.6%.
You can see what's more important :|
**Oh well,add:
High tech industry investment and services investment growth rate is maintained at a rate of 3 percentage points higher than the total investment growth.
Government priorities are high tech industries.
The growth in service sector is due to increased wages, doesn't need too much attention from government.
When water flows ,a channel is formed.
Just raise people's income, improve industrial chains, service sector is not a problem.
India is establishing itself in manufacturing sector, China is establishing itself in service sector.
Ok, let's stick to the topic of Taiwanese company Foxconn and it's investments in India now. I think Foxconn already has manufacturing unit(s) in India, this one is a new one. We need to further improve our foreign and diplomatic relations with the Taiwanese government to get more investments in the electronics manufacturing industry.
Not sure who you "us" are. Definitely not the Indian government.
You accept HK and Macao passports, as well.
And on the front cover of the Taiwan Province passport says the Republic of China.
Nonetheless you do not (and cannot) accept them as a country.
As for we "us," we do not even consider India a single entity, although, diplomatically not so.
You can do your best to attract investment. There will be money coming from all parts of China, including the Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
After all, there is a list published every year as to which country receives the highest FDI.
But you cannot have diplomatic relations with either TW or HK because you do not recognize them politically.
Aside from that, we can also do business with various Indian governments.
Foxconn is known to have made such announcements every now and then with regard to India, pouring hypothetical billions into it over the years.
In reality, very few of those intentions will be materialized.
