India's Gujarat state is holding talks with Foxconn over a semiconductor plant, a top government official told Reuters, days after the Taiwanese giant broke off a $19.5 billion joint-venture plan with India's Vedanta.

In the West we have conferred the status of a LDC to Bangladesh.
Least developed country.
With a Least developed country we offer baksheesh. We do not charge them a whole range of taxes so these extremely poor masses efforts stitching garments and Chadi's would give them a meal a day and provide some money for education for their children.
These LDC then eventually graduate to becoming a normal trading nation when its per capita income is sufficiently large enough.
India is a normal trading nation , Bangladesh is a LDC and has no desire to progress to a normal trading nation as it receives billions in baksheesh and does not want to play in the world of the grownups.

Taiwan-based Hon Hai Technology Group (better known as Foxconn) on Tuesday (July 11) said that it intended to submit an application under the modified Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for semiconductors, a day after it announced the end of its joint venture (JV) with the Vedanta Group to build a $19.5 billion semiconductor plant in Gujarat.


“Foxconn is working toward submitting an application related to the ‘Modified Programme for Semiconductors and Display Fab Ecosystem,’” the firm said in an FAQ document shared with the media on Tuesday (July 11). Foxconn will require partners as it does not itself possess chip technology as a contract manufacturer. It is unclear if it has found any such partners yet.
