Four-year girl raped and murdered in Mardan

SC takes suo motu notice of 4-year-old's rape and murder in Mardan

The Supreme Court on Friday took suo motu notice of the rape and murder of a four-year-old girl found dead in a sugarcane field in Mardan on January 14.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector-General of Police to submit a report on the case within 24 hours.

The court issued its orders soon after the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) concluded that the girl was raped before being murdered.

The toddler was playing outside her house in Mardan when she was picked up by an unidentified assailant on January 13, District Nazim Himayatullah Mayar had told Dawn earlier. A day later, she was found dead in a sugarcane field near her house.

Local authorities and doctors had expressed suspicion that the toddler was assaulted before she was strangled to death.

Director General PFSA Dr Mohammad Ashraf Tahir said that the lab had carried out tests on samples of DNA taken from the crime scene, and confirmed that the minor girl had been raped.

The findings corroborate those in the autopsy report. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief Salahuddin Mehsud had earlier said police were awaiting the PFSA forensic report as the medico-legal report had left certain things unclear.

Cases of sexual assault against minors have come under greater scrutiny in the country following the rape and murder of six-year-old Zainab in Kasur, whose body was recovered from a trash heap in the city on January 9.

The news shocked the entire country with #JusticeforZainab becoming a rallying cry for catching and punishing perpetrators of such heinous crimes.

I see the resident Noon league worshippers out in force trying to attacked IK for this case. Mardan seems to be top of their concerns when the reality is that Kasur has many pedophiles still loose on the streets because the ministers there decided to let them go.

You do realise that Zainab's murder had a huge public outcry because a serial killer was involved. I'm sure the Mardan public would react the same if there were many similar incidents there over 2-3 years.

^ you ain’t even deserve sxit to reply. Keep licking IK like Noonnies doing to Sharif brothers.

^ you ain’t even deserve sxit to reply. Keep licking IK like Noonnies doing to Sharif brothers.

You really think the punjab CM puts those cctv cameras everywhere? lol what a delusional fellow.
If you had any sense you would realise that the camera footage in Zainab's case was from the local shopkeepers who had them installed. There aren't any government funded cctv camera's there. Heck, some the footage released was not even cctv and was staged since you could see the camera shake and actually follow the alleged suspect.

The victim in Mardan was found in a nearby field so we can assume she lived in a rural area where there are no shops and hence no camera's.

It's all common sense which many don't seem to have unfortunately.

Awareness ^
Showbaz is clown and doing a good show at least you admit it.
Mardan isn’t an Afghan Basti the KP Govt is responsible what happen there.
As I said we need to focus on solutions rather than busy pagdi uchal or dhoti utar.

No media coverage either apart from this thread.
Yahan baba rehmta bhi chup hai. Shahid masood ny aik baat kahi or foran suo motu action ly lia.

If N-league is cancer then army and judiciary must tell the nation what harm they are doing to Pakistan, like they did on memo gate scandal. Except hawai firing of IK and some 90 s cases we don't listen anything. (Panama is a medium to get rid of NS. I am 110% sure if all politicians got scrutinized correctly barely a few of them could save them selves.)
If they provide some confidential information to India, whats was that?
Few fauji fellas here also saying he did harm to country, What harm they do? tell us.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) observed on Tuesday that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) police has completely failed to perform in the case of rape and murder of minor girl Asma in Mardan.

The three-member bench, headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar, was hearing the case.

The bench wondered why the K-P government has no forensics lab of its own to test DNA. “You have no capacity to investigate the matter, therefore, you are dependent on Punjab government,” the CJP said.

“This is the total failure of K-P,” he added.

Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) K-P Alam Khan Shinwari told the three-member bench that 350 people have been interrogated so far, and few suspects have been identified as well. He also informed the court that they are currently waiting for Punjab Forensics Lab Agency to send the results of the DNA test report.

He further added that this is a “blind case”, and evidence has yet to be gathered. The court adjourned the hearing till February 6th.
