IMPHAL: Militants on Thursday ambushed a team of Manipur policemen on road opening party (ROP) duty at two different places in Chandel district, killing four personnel and injuring another four.

The first ambush occurred at Lokchao, 21 km from the border town of Moreh, when the police team was heading for Tengnoupal where Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh was scheduled to attend a programme in connection with the inauguration of the newly created district of Tengnoupal, which was carved out from the existing Naga-dominated district of Chandel.
While one personnel was killed on spot, three of those injured later succumbed to injuries, said a police officer.

Of the deceased personnel, two have been identified as Md Ayub Khan and Hc Ngarei Marring, the police officer said.

In the second ambush that took place at Bongyang area in the same district, one personnel of the state forces was severely injured.

NSCN-IM is behind the ambush.
Last week naga NSCN-IM said that they wanted Indian army to arbitrate in their dispute with meitei majority Manipur police
Army has requested permission from MHA to do so.
On the other hand Manipur police complained to MoD that the Army is allowing NSCN-IM leaders to use Army guest houses while travelling.

NSCN-IM demands that nagas from chandel And not meiteis be recruited into new paramilitary battalions of BSF and AR being raised from Manipur

On the other hand North East India has become very safe this year, only 17 security forces casualties this year make it the lowest since the 1950s.
Civilians casualties are lowest too since the 1950s.

I suppose Pakistan should now start crying about the evil Indian states occupation of Manipur, and how people from that region congratulated Nawaz Sharif on 14th August on Pakistans independence. At least if Pakistan was run by an individual like Modi it would.

Anyways RIP to the men doing their duty.

Lol.
You do realize that this incident is actually a tribal clash between meitei tribe majority police and naga led nscn-im.
Nscn-im has very good relations with Army since 2001.

Manipur police is funded by MHA directly whereas Intelligence Bureau funds the NSCN-IM since 2001.

The only freedom struggle / insurgency / separatists movement of concern to Indians is the one taking place in Indian occupied Kashmir, only because they can conveniently blame Pakistan for that, else whatever happens in the Red Corridor or elsewhere is irrelevant , in fact apart from IOK, you get the feeling the Indian security forces are considered disposable.

You better worry about the number of Pakistan soldiers killed inspite of using air bombing, tanks, artillery and drones against your own people. If India treads the same path, in a month all Kashmiri terrorist dogs will jump over the fence to Pakistan. We are a democracy and we and our army care for people's lives.

Couldnt care less about that, just as Modi raj ignores the intricacies of the situation in Balochistan. Even western polls show the majority of Balochis want to be part of Pakistan, but that doesn't stop Modi from offering "freedom" to intrinsic i.e. non disputed regions of other sovereign nations. Just highlighting the irony of his dehati aurat ranting.

Firstly the thread is not about Pakistan so don't digress to escape the argument.
Our soldiers are fighting WOT, when you are in battle there are no excuses unlike you people who just need an excuse to blame every Pigeon or Balloon that lands on your soil. Your soldiers don't even face a decimal of the challenge posed to the Pakistani soldiers.... in any case, Pakistan is not the only country in the region having used aircraft or tanks against insurgents....and we are open about it, yea sure you are so civilised who has to indulge in fake encounters to remain under the umbrella of so called democracy.

It is OK ; no big deal

Some incidents will happen in the North East ; from time to time

But the situation in the North east is INFINITELY
than in your troubled KP and Balochistan

so there is no reason for you to gloat :cheesy:

We have seized 80,000 AK47, thousands of rocket launchers, grenades in Kashmir. Full wrath of Pakistan backed in terrorist when India was economically weak and Pakistan in USA camp, while simultaneously fighting the terrorist in North East, Maoists and in Kashmir. And we didn't have to bomb our people. And you compare bombing your own people with the encounters to kill terrorist. That is some logic. We have been fighting WOT since the beginning without using any fighter plane, bombs, tanks and artillery. Still Pakistan almost lost its north western areas. We cant imagine such incompetence of our defense forces.
