PESHAWAR:
At least four policemen of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police were martyred on Wednesday after their vehicle was ambushed on Mianwali Road, Lakki Marwat.

Reports said that unknown men started firing on the police mobile near Zainuddin Filling Station on Minawali Road, resulting in the death of four cops.

The deceased police officials were identified as ASI Yaqub Khan, Constable Mastaqim Paharkhel, Constable Inam Isakhel and driver Rahimullah Nawarkhel. The bodies of the deceased were moved to City Hospital for medico-legal formalities after which they were handed over to the families of the slain cops.

Following the ambush, the assailants managed to flee the crime scene. However, police teams have established pickets across the city and have started searching for the suspects involved in the attack.

Police said that they have collected evidence from the crime scene besides interviewing the witnesses present at the scene of the ambush.

Meanwhile, the funeral prayers of the slain policemen were held at Police Lines. The funeral was attended by Deputy Commissioner Raqbal Hussain, DPO Shehzad Abbas, SP Investigation Shafiq Wazir and DSP Iqbal Mohmand. The slain cops were also given a police salute to honour their services after the prayers.

K-P Chief Minister Mahmood Khan condemned the attack on the police van. In a statement, the chief minister directed the police to arrest the culprits without any delay.

According to the chief minister, the K-P police have given unparalleled sacrifices to keep the province safe.

So ambushes have started to happen in the settled areas too. Why aren't we seeing alarm bells ringing somewhere?

.
This is just unbearable
4 soldiers killed 3 days ago
And 4 more today

.
Almost everyday our men are dying. Our confused govt and establishment first tries to negotiate with every terrorist entity and has to fight them eventually. 4 in 4 in punjab and 2 soldiers in waziristan as well.

The alarm bells are not ringing because the capacity to deal with the problem is not present. Police have and always will been security guards of the elite. Army has only 1 solution, clear the area and fight whoever remains. You can't do that in the cities, that only worked in FATA because there was nobody to stand up for the rights of the residents.

They should have thought about this before they release TTP leadership and gave a platform in parliament to TTP political wing, PTM.

Since TTP and not TLP did this....the govt. won't do something about it as they have done nothing for the past 2 decades...

Army can only do so much.

There should be investments/legislation passed to out CCTV cameras on every petrol station/commercial areas which are placed to look towards the exits and entrances of the station/area.
Every police station/government building should have towers which carry IR capable security cameras, thus allowing for persistent 24/7 footage of nearby areas.

You can't win an unconventional war by conventional means. You have to get creative.

Army can't go around taking care of fuckups of every other department in the country.

Exactly, i mean we've been facing this for 20 years, still nothing.

Go onto a flight in the west and you have to take off your shoes for them to be scanned, all because 1 asshole decided to put a bomb in his shoes.

Meanwhile in Pakistan ATF officers still as for 1000rs not to go through your luggage.

Problem is, after ZeA, the public focus shifted away from this problem. There are no calls made to make cities and villages safer. Instead we have duffers in civil society asking for the opposite. (No surveillance, no ATC, no Rangers/FC operations).
Politicians get the blame as well, because they're deliberately ignoring the resurgence, because they know that police will simply deploy Elite members to save their skin, and some are hand in glove with terrorist organisations.
Judiciary is hellbent on undermining what little initiative is taken to create some semblance of an effective strategy to counter this threat, or giving clean chits to hardcore terrorists.
The only thing I blame the Army is, not purchasing and deploying optimized equipment in such scenarios (drones, MRAPs) and failing to create an effective security grid in hot areas.

.
Foot soldiers giving their lives like flies everywhere.
Meanwhile government and security establishment playing their games and experiements as usual.
Dedicate a sing to them, Give medal to their children. Case closed.
TLP in Urban Punjab, TTP in KPK. Now whats next? Re-emergence of Altaf bhai in Karachi?
