1. You are right about his intoxication with power. In fact it was suspected he even dreamt of becoming the Shahinshah of an Iran-Pak confederation. His family was also known to be corrupt.
2. I had seen the man physically. What a handsome and fine figure of a man he was! I had also taught Imperial Iranian military officers in some courses. The Shah's efforts at spreading literacy through Education Brigades was a good venture. This and the physical infrustructures the Shah had built is paying dividend to present generation no doubt.

No, I mean the last one who called himself Aryameher. His father, who had founded the dynasty, was two generations earlier than mine.

The first one put a stop to a constitutional movement and delayed our independence. The second one also delayed the independence in the 50s when he was brought back by CIA after he was kicked out. Finally, in 79 we got it, but it was 70 years later than when it was stopped by the Pahlavi Dynasty.

So, I have no respect for the Pahlavis. We had to eventually go through the birth pains of independence and self-governance and political maturity, and if the process was not halted, then by now, 2015, we would have had more than 100 years of experience of it, rather than just 36 years.

well , Pahlavi dynasty made many mistakes there is no doubt about it , but the first king , Reza pahlavi did something right and that was reigning local khans and warlord . he was a dictator no doubt about it but his actions prevented Iran from dreadful fate of some countries that right now are being torn apart by warlords and tribal leaders .

Im not a fan of religious governance but the fact is that the Islamic Republic woke Iran up from a sleep and transformed Iran to a fiercly independent and influeantial regional power.
The kind that the Shah only could dream of.

My favorite president would have to be Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Mr Rafsanjani, Sardare Kolang Zani inaugurated the project and then leaved it, then Mr khatami came and did nothing too, 8 years later he delivered the project to Mr Ahmadinejad with just 6.6% physical advancement, then Ahmadinejad finished it in 4 years.

now what you wanna say? it was unveiled six months sooner or later? again you want to ignore the whole project which has finished in his government and complain about unveiling??? good luck with your mentality.

I apologize on behalf of Mr Ahmadinejad, his mistake was actually doing something, he should have stick to re-unveiling of airport toilets, this would satisfy you people much much much more, as today you are with Mr Rohani.

That's why I said the title is wrong. Khomeini is a great leader (no other leader could manage so many of our idiotic politicians so well, without the country falling into instability), but his criteria of leadership is different than the four I mentioned.
