Formula One - Malaysian GP 2014

@Abingdonboy @nair

2015 is going to offer more spectacular races, what do you think? :D

Alonso-Mclaren-Honda :yay:

Yes it is going to be one......... last year it was 2 race..... 1)between Mercedes and 2)between other 20 cars.......

That is not going to be the case this year.........

@Abingdonboy may not like these changes..... I have noticed he is a diehard lewis fan....

I see the W06 devouring the competition just like the W05, this year might actually be more successful for them as they will have focussed on their unreliability (their weak spot last year), it might be an all Mercedes year in terms of wins (unlikely though).

As a Lewis Hamilton fan I'm interested to see if he can address his Qualifying issues and with improved reliability and no double points this year he should secure his 3rd world title with a few races to go :smokin:

Alonso in Mclarean Honda will be interesting to watch but I don't expect anything spectacular from them in the first year, perhaps next year. If they can be in the top 5 of the WCC that will be a huge step forward for them.

Shame about Force India's financial difficulties, I fear they could be close to collapse but I really hope they somehow make it through. It will be sad to see the 2016 Indian GP with no Indian team or drivers.

I don't know bro, Mercedes haven't shown their hand yet and by many accounts they have extended their advantage if not maintained the gap to the competition.

The chances are that they might have maintained the gap....... But having such advantage is also a turn off....... Imagine 10 cars with equal chances of winning, everything boil down to strategy, tyre management,luck....... That is where its gonna get exiting........ Luckily there was a healthy/unhealthy fight between lewis and nico, if not last season would have been boring..... I am interested to see what force india is gonna do......... How williams are gonna perform...

Oh yes, if Mercedes' testing form is anything to go by, they come across as more challenging to the rest of the field. But we have to take into consideration that engine rules have been relaxed with the token system now, and so there's every chance for other engine suppliers to catch up with Mercedes during the course of the season.

Ferrari seems to have taken a step forward as well. Autosport team witnessing testing live on track stated Ferrari engine sounds cleaner as compared to last season (obv Mercedes is still the best) but their cornering speed has improved as they've finally managed to get on top of their woes (a weak front end) which should suit Kimi and Vettel both. Still early days, can't be sure.

Force India is likely to miss the next testing session too. :(

I'm cautiously optimistic for Mclaren, they've emphasized again and again on their introduction of new technology and the concept of size zero f1 car (extremely tight rear packaging), Eric clearly stated they've taken an aggressive approach and have prioritized performance over reliability while designing the car so it's gonna be interesting to see where they stand once they have sorted out their issues with integration of the Honda power unit with the chassis.

I'm sure 2015 will see a re-run of the Lews vs Nico fight and that should be interesting as both drivers have areas they need to improve on (Lewis- Qualy/Nico-Races). Of course it would be fun for all the cars to be equal and not knowing who would win every race but that's not really F1 bro. That is more like a spec series, in F1 there are always periods of dominance ( Mclaren in the 80s, Williams in the 90s, Ferrai in the late 90s/early 00s, Red Bull 2010-2014). The gap that Mercedes and last year (and perhaps this year) is rather unprecedented though.

Force India will be interesting to watch because they have two good drivers and normally Fi are one of the more innovative teams.

I'm less interested in Williams, I really dislike the team, the team principle (Frank Williams) and have no real fondness for Massa or Bottas.

The reliability Mercedes showed in the first test was very impressive, their unimpressive times can't be seen as being representative at all. They are clearly sandbagging.

On the token front, this should benefit Mercedes too. I heard that last year the Merc team stopped sending updates to the races because they had such an advantage over the rest (not related to engines but still). They have a lot of potential to grow too.

I am most interested to see Ferrari in 2015 and what Seb can do in that team. He has been abused for needing a perfect car to be competitive (like Jenson) and when he doesn't have it is average so let's see how the under performing Ferrari team get on this year. I'm hoping they can make a big step foreward, it is just sad to seem them getting knocked out in Q1 and being happy with minor points.

My second/third favourite team in F1.

Force India is likely to miss the next testing session too. :(
Yeah and there were rumours they are up for sale and are facing insolvency, sad times.

They certainly appear to have gone for a very aggressive rear end on that car and they have some new technical staff from Red Bull who will surely add performance to the car but to think Honda will be competitive enough to challenge the Mercs in their first year seems highly optimistic but we will see. I think Honda might experience quite a bite of unreliability this season.

I wonder how Alonso will react if Malarian finish behind Ferrari in the WCCs again?

So the first week end starts.......... It is going to be Merc all the way!!!!! followed by williams and ferrari............ Whats your take @Abingdonboy @Span

@Horus can you rename this thread as " Formula one season 2015" no need to open a new thread for a new season, as very few uses this thread.....

Yup, no doubt about it this is going to be another year with Mercedes out in front by some margin- should be great to watch Lewis vs Nico part 2. Both have areas they need to work on and should come back even stronger this year so it should be intense!!

Marussia : & Caterham No idea (some new guys may be)

Caterham aren't coming back AFAIK, they are dead. As for Maurussia (or Manor as I think they are now called) one of their drivers is Will Stevens IIRC, there seems to be a lot of toing and froing going on with the second seat, most likely to do with pay and how much the driver brings to the team.

Genuinly very sad that Bianchi won't be on the grid this year, such a promising driver.

+waz sir, could we please have the title changed to the Forumula One thread?

Well there going to be 2 race........

1) for P1 ,
2) for P3

What is the update on Bianchi? Still remember that bloody crash of him........ Hope he is recovering.......

Williams are doing well too(if go by their performance in testing)..... I feel Merc was masking their real pace and they were under cutting their real power in testing..... Probably we can see their real power in malaysia....

AFAIK he is still in a coma and is now in France, not much postive news sadly.

I'm pretty certain Merc were sandbagging in testing and I think they pretty much said as much.

1) for P1 ,
2) for P3

Too true, I am interested to see how Ferrai do this year, they seem to have improved significanlty this season and I am intrigued by how well Seb will do in a new team- he has a lot to prove.

What a shame..... i was expecting to see him on top 3 teams in next season if not this season.....

Yeah even Ferrari was complaining .......

Yeah they improved significantly.....most probably they will be fighting it out with williams........It will be interesting to see how seb handles Kimi..... He cant screw around him :P

I am interested to see the performance of Mclaren........ especially on second half........

Let us revive the F1 interest of @SpArK, This thread is kind of boring with very few members........ Actually it is very surprising that very few are interested in F1 in an international forum like this.......

Unfortunately I get the feeling his F1 career is over (before it had even really started). Now it is just a question of whether he can get some sort of normal life- fingers crossed.

lol, Kimi seems to have given up, it will be interesting to see if he raises his game if the car is that much better.

If Seb gets beat consistently by Kimi I can only imagine how much damage that will do to his reputation.

I am interested to see the performance of Mclaren........ especially on second half........
Indeed but they have had a huge amount of issues but their care is said to be fundamantelly fast (according to them). I'm also really interested to see some more detaisl emerge about this Alonso accident in Barcelona, I don't know if you've been following the news on this but there seems to be a lot of unanswered questions around it.

F1 appears to be a very niche sport so I'm not all that surprised.

.
