There are only 3 countries in the world that can defend themselves or potentially attack other: US, Russia, China. Other can’t. Without Nato Germany must acquire nuclear weapons, spending to 100 billion euros per year. Germany can, Japan can, most can’t, hence Nato or some sort of military alliance is needed.
My concern is my country Vietnam. We can’t spend 100 billion euros per year. The only option we have is either enter a US military led alliance or acquire nuclear weapons like North Korea. We are helpless against potential chinese invasion like Ukraine.
