Get ‘em while they’re not so hot.

Ford has revealed the dates that it will end production of several of the slow-selling car model lines it will be eliminating in favor of a lineup mostly made up of trucks and SUVs.

As first reported by Automotive News, Ford will stop building the current Focus this May and replace it with a crossover-inspired model called the Focus Active that will be imported from China beginning in the middle of next year. Ford's Michigan Assembly plant where it is currently built will be retooled to produce the upcomming Ranger pickup and Bronco SUV.

The Taurus will follow the Focus into the history books next March, when its Chicago factory is scheduled to be revamped to manufacture an all-new Explorer SUV, while Fiesta production will end next May at Ford’s Cuautitlán Assembly facility in Mexico to make way for a lineup of electric cars that will be manufactured there starting in 2020.

The Fusion looks set to live on the longest, as a date for its discontinuation has not yet been announced. The midsize sedan is currently exported to the United States from a Ford facility in Hermosillo, Mexico, that also builds the Lincoln MKZ.

@F-22Raptor

China has slapped the reciprocal 50 billion tariffs on the US automakers, and now they just decide to end all the production lines in the US, and move it to China.

So much about MAGA.

The moment China slapped tariffs, it destroyed Ford in a matter of days. Man thats the power of China!

Ford was powerful a few days ago, and China just destroyed it!

Will China sell or launch Quality Signature Chinese Cars ,Trucks ,SUVs , Bus , MUV,
, in Pakistani Market ?

China must sell Haval SUVS ,Trucks ,Luxury Cars in Pakistan & Bangladesh .
Who are both Sunni Muslim Countries .

Who dont like to purchase USA or Western Controlled Automobile/ Car MNCs.
Many practice BDS of West ,India & Israhell.

But they dont have any other options but these companies .
& their accomplices like Japan ,France ,India, & Korea etc

Who are all owned by Western Countries .

Muslim countries are looking for an alternative ,
Who isnt a puppet or accomplice of West .

& there is only one good Option , That is China.

I hope China launches CAR's & Automobiles , Heavy Industries , Trucks ,Buses
in Muslim countries like ,Pakistan ,Bangladesh, Egypt ,KSA ,Indonesia, Turkey , Iran ,
to counter Western Hegemony & Control & Influence

Ford must indeed have made the decision to move production way earlier. But, what is more interesting to watch is the following two:

A. Will US companies change investment strategies (already) made under MAGA? Evidence shows, not many.

B. Will they avoid investment in more affordable, efficient and growing markets in their future plans due to MAGA?

Will they comply or revolt? That's I am more interested about to see how much teeth the US government has. That's a good case for me to study the premise of neoliberalism, that is, hands off rule.

Besides, this case also is valuable as one of the indicators of whether the US government is too big or too small. Or just the right size.

:enjoy:

The US is severely weakened without the TPP, no leverage against China at all.

Most US multinationals choose to bow down to the money instead of MAGA.

Sorry to disappoint our Vietnamese friends again. @Viet @Viva_Viet

Not much a major issue. The US economy has the most strength in service and financial sectors, not in manufacturing. They can continue to do so. I think it is a great idea when the Americans move production to Vietnam. we do cheaper in producting cars, buses, tractors and other stuffs. Win win.

here production lines at Thaco. more car factories are coming.

Sending more jobs to Vietnam is paradoxically conflicting with MAGA.

cheaper??? How?

Maybe they do not require joint ventures or including domestic content for foreign business.

In this way, it is indeed cheaper for the foreign ventures. But, not necessarily for VN. VN gets a cheaper deal, for sure, but, it does not mean good for the country's future.

If VN remains that way, I think many CN business will love to go there, too.

Yes bro, it will be relatively cheaper without the requirement to set up joint ventures compared to themselves if joint ventures is required, but even with such policy to attract investment, their auto industry is negligible and not competitive at all.
