Forbes: How "Made in China" Became Cool

A heavy and consecutive investment in basic science is the pre-condition to support the Chinese companies climbing up the ladder of the value chain.

For example, by end of 2014, China totally has 14 large research infrastructures in operation, with another 10 in operation.

Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) is one of the large infrastructures that located in my city, Shanghai.

What is SSRF?
Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) is a third-generation mediumenergy light source, consists of a 150-MeV electron linac, a full-energy booster, a 3.5-GeV electron storage ring, and 7 Phase-I beamlines and experimental stations.

By the end of 2012, SSRF had received 4751 user proposal with a total beamtime hour request of 354,520 hours, which is 3–4 times as much as the seven beamlines can offer, indicating a strong demand of beamtime. So maybe China should build an even larger one to make sure the Chinese scientists could get the best infrastructure support!!

so now you called "creativity" as "copy" ?
Whenever Chinese ppl start to compare theirs to Vietnamese ( but not US/Japan ) things, I know they are losers.
Because you ALWAYS bla,bla even most of us ignore you , No US/Japan bla bla here. And US and Japan also copy the Europe. Copy is nothing to be ashame ,and no every country can copy a bullet train, unclear reactor ,space station ..which I can list a lot,we are the only one,and the western products which deserve copying will become less and less . I am proud of our capability which you will never reach,so the sour grape .we are losers? no, you Vietnamese are losers, you have no chance to defeat our industrial products ,that means it is very hard for you to occupy the international market, your country never become rich if you cannot finish the industrization by occupying the international market.

Wish you were outsiders to think about "Made in China" image in their minds. It's useful if you want to have intl market.
Without it, your effort to access international market will have the same result as steel industry.

But we're insiders of FTA with EU and Trans Pacific Partnership, ATIGA of ASEAN, AANZ, AKFTA... we are a part of international market. already.

I know well about what Made in China equipment is.
Most of quality electrical/electronic, marine items have their hearts Made in EU, Japan, USA by Matsushita, Panasonic, Sony, Texas Instrument, Thales, MTU, Baltur, or Qualcomm, Mediatek, Intel, ...

We all know these tank was returned because while using Ukraine engines, China sold them to foreign county without allowance of Ukraine, .

Really, engaging with those pathetic countries with immense white-worshipping self-racism mentality is self-degrading. Such discussion is useless, barbaric remains barbaric no matter how we try to enlighten them.

Amen, I only consider China and the ancient Romans to be non barbaric cultures. Both full of culture and technological might.

Keep living in your dreams, the destiny of your pathetic country is doomed. It must be very very sad and helpless to hate a country you can never catch up,and maybe that country will rule your country again as that country always did. By the way,I know what you want to say, no doube Japan will pay back one day ,the time is closing ,Japan should pray USA never down, or their destiny is dark.

China is a civilisation state, so we consider border tribes of the East part of Asia that have difficulty assimilating to the Middle Kingdom as out-of-order barbarians. Former barbarian tribes could turn non-barbarian by adopting Chinese civilisation and Chinese language. such as the adoption of Chinese characters and Confucian society of Koreans in history. If they can completely assimilate, they can be a proud part of Chinese Empire.

To all China members to this thread:

I'd like to suggest we all IGNORE the Vietnam trollers that aiming to pollute this thread. They come from one of the POOREST and LEAST DEVELOPED countries on this planet. So we should understand how jealous, fear, and desperate they feel, when they see we make our country modernized in such a quick pace:
- When China has already become world's largest producer of electric vehicles, Vietnam even could not make a proper gasoline car that could be commercialized.

- When China already owns half of world's high speed train network and the Chinese people are fully benefited by this new transportation means, Vietnam could only console themselves that HSR is useless

- When China's own J20 will be in service in PLAAF soon, Vietnam could even not make an MIG-21 alike plane by their own, and needs to import 2nd-hand fighters to guarantee the supplies of replacement parts

- When China's defense budget alone is even larger than the GDP of Vietnam, meanwhile China still has a lower defense budget vs. GDP ratio than Vietnam, all that Vietnam could do is to ignore this horrible fact and comfort themselves that China's military forces are useless in South China Sea.

- When China surpasses Germany and Japan and ranks No.2 in the Nature Index (almost the most effective tool to evaluate a country's progress in scientific research), Vietnam even could not be shown by the Nature Index list

To be frank, if I were Vietnam guy, I would never show up in PDF, because I lack of the "hard mouth" and "hard facial skin" as the BBQ guy from Vietnam.

Exactly. To be fair, this particular Vietnamese, who just published the images of two buildings that were under construction years back (the gold one actually has been recently shared on this forum), is an outlier. At least I like to think that way, otherwise, it indicates a pathetic state of mind for an entire country.

What I cannot grasp is that that sorry Vietnamese person counters news about China's progress by providing selective examples from the best such as Japan, Germany or the US. It is weird given that he is Vietnamese and China failure's in this or that against competition from Japan, Germany etc. (like civilian airliner) won't translate into Vietnam selling more of its domestically-built technologies such as civilian jets.

I understand competitive spirit, but, when Vietnam is less than a province of China, would that not be better to keep silent and work diligently instead of bragging off others' accomplishments -- others who have zero sympathy against Vietnam?

I agree that he needs to be ignored because no matter what he will continue to litter the threads with his own particular mind-filth.

A new example of cool Chinese products: Dobby drone!!

The drone is small enough to be put in your pocket!

Know why our ancestors didn't persevere in making Vietnam a part of China proper?

They didn't want to have a bunch of slavish retards living within our borders!!

This palm-sized 'selfie drone' fits in your pocket and has foldable blades

BY RAYMOND WONG

http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTU4MzQ3NTU2MA==.html?from=s1.8-1-1.2

Drones are the new hotness in the gadget world and no one makes better drones than DJI. But while DJI's Phantom 4 is both super smart and easy to control, it's nowhere near as easy to carry around as the Dobby selfie drone.

Created by Chinese drone maker ZeroTech, the Dobby is a super small and compact drone that's barely larger than the palm of your hand and weighs just under half a pound.

SEE ALSO: Xiaomi takes on DJI with its ultra-cheap Mi Drone

The most notable thing about the drone is its foldable propeller blades. All four of them tuck into pill-shaped body for easy storage.

The drone is controlled with a smartphone app and it can take off in various ways. According to a company promotional video, the Dobby can take off from your hand when you use a voice command and when you pat it. Yes, pat the drone. Furthermore, you can control the drone using hand gestures.

The Dobby is suitable for both indoor and outdoor flight; there are blade bumpers that can be attached for safety.

And like the Hover Camera, the Dobby can hover in place and record video in up to full HD 1080p resolution from its 13-megapixel camera. It can also take 4K-resolution still photos with burst mode. Photos and videos can then be shared to social networks via the smartphone app.

It's also got object and face-tracking capabilities so it can automatically follow you around while recording video.

Another fun feature: It can carry small objects. Our guess is the payload needs to be lighter than the drone itself. Parrot's toy-like Airborne Cargo drone can also carry small objects like little toy figurines.

Battery life is reportedly only about nine minutes. That said, the Hover Camera only flies for eight minutes on a battery. Additional batteries will be a must.

The Dobby selfie drone sounds like a cool toy and could be a serious challenger to the Hover Drone. You can pick one up from Alibaba's Taobao for RMB 1,899 (about $290).

China to roll out mature 5G standards by 2020
http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2016-05/20/c_135375930.htm
NANJING, May 20 (Xinhua) -- China is developing 5G technology and expects to debut mature 5G standards by 2020, according to a senior mobile communications expert.

"China has always attached great importance to participating in the formulation of international standards, and will hopefully play a leading and central role in making 5G standards," You Xiaohu, head of the Nanjing-based National Mobile Communications Research Laboratory, told Xinhua on Thursday.

China started research on 5G technology in 2013, and will probably complete a first version of its 5G standards by 2018, You said, adding the standards will become more mature over time.

5G technology will raise network speeds by 1,000 times and bring virtual reality, holographic images and other new experiences to people's lives, You said.

China is the world leader of 5G technology
1.jpg

China's 5G technology has already achieved 12 times faster speed and 40 to 50 times more multiple accessibility than 4G's speed
2.jpg

The First Global 5G Event was held in Beijing in May 31. Currently Ms Peng Ying from China Dadong Group is the Chairman of the 5G Technology Assessment Committee of the Global alliance. So the key person for assessing and making 5G technology standards is the Chinese.

construction is the great sector in China

bro I suggest you stop trolling the Chinese. I think a bit trolling here and there is ok, but it is unneccessary doing that without provocation and all the times. Otherwise someone could feel be not amused and ban you from this section again.

Thanks. If you could argue, construction sector of China isn't cool ? hey ... are you controlling me?

Actually, China construction skills are very good. I wonder why their projects in Vietnam didn't reflect that.
