What's new

For Pakistan: War drums just got louder at Yemen-Saudi border

We said the same thing many a times before

and look what kind of mess we got ourselves in.

Why we say all these things? Because we do not know and not realize how important Pakistan is for the region. The more we hide from the challenges, the smaller the Pakistan will get in terms of its stature.

Another burning post.

Sadly

So APS students (all Pakhtoons), were butchered by Pakhtoon terrorists for dollars? or were that for Riyals.

Let's what your shining wisdom tell you.

Yes those same terrorist who you once trained, financed and they have turned against you.

You did train and finance a lot of outfits, they killed APS student, maybe they were killed to relieve pressure on those in government who sit there with fake mandate.

.
I sure hope it is true what you say.

Believe me, air campaign alone will never work in Yemen. There will be long stalemate with constant anarchy. And it will impact KSA.

I say this based on many many many many similar examples.

I believe King Sulman took the right step and took swift action.

But it must be followed with ground campaign. Pakistani parliament is just one small section of our government. Please do not take their speeches as the final say of ALL of Pakistan. We are with KSA at this hour of need.

Remember this.

If your neighbors house is on fire, it will impact your house too. And the longer the fire burns, the worst the impact.

Brother KSA lies in the center of the MENA region basically and is and has been surrounded by conflict zones since like forever.
.
yes. and the region now called Saudi Arabia paid a HUGE price. Big powers and small warlods came and fought and killed and maimed at will.

The situation only changed when one leader (a great leader) rose up and said "enough is enough". Saudi Arabia is not the backyard open to anyone and everyone to come control it.

So the situation now in 2015 is markedly different from even 1950s let alone "forever".

Now Saudi Arabia is formal country with proper borders.

So building "great walls" of Saud may work, like the great wall of China. But it may not. only time will tell.

The Houthi's are not a threat to KSA at all militarily. Quite honestly then Yemen is a quagmire and the solutions must be found among themselves..

only if superior force creates the situation to sit and talk.

otherwise it may turn out to be a Lebanon like situation where a group similar to Hizbullah is sitting next to the border of KSA. And that my friend is different compared to the border of Iraq.

Can't $50 billion army protect the country how pathetic considering they started the war with the barefoot houthis. Furthermore Senegal soldiers will be sacrificed for the royals not Pakistan. Where UAE and other gulfies for assistance?

I always believes, Pakistan had to involves in this mess if not today then tomorrow for sure, we simply cant hide forever.
At the same time on the other hand, i believes before going in, we have to built consensus inside just like we did in SW/NW....and simply not before that, no matter what.

I am just surprised why Faujhistorian wants to get involved in Yemen so bad.

Surprises me as well. I think we will reluctantly get involved if Saudia Arabia is attacked in any serious way to honour our agreement but at the end of the day this is not our war. The only people in Pakistan who have supported sending Pakistani soldiers to go and die in a foreign war are the loony mullahs (and wierdly our Faujihistorian).

Bhai jaan

your statement smacks of ignorance about military matters.

if you knew miltiary history, you would know that $$ do not make an army.

It takes much more in resources, time, and traditions.

Well, we will see bro. I am actually not that worried. A lot of fuss has been made about this conflict to begin with if you ask me.

It's great training for our air force though. A ground invasion would be IMO pointless. Just like the US invasion of Afghanistan has proved to be. States like Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan etc. will be engulfed in conflict forever unless their own people and politicians make the enormous changes required.

Well, the 800 km + border along Iraq has worked damn well. Most of the border with Yemen is mountainous though so that will be a bigger challenge but it can be done.

No because they lack courage, one thing Arabs are not know for is their courage.

Remember all those great leaders during so called Arab era were none Arabs for example Saladin ayyubi was a Kurd.

Well said Tameem bhai.

Well said.

Let me say a bit about "Consensus building".

Unfortunately our intellectuals follow bhair chaal (sheepal mentality).

Today they may be saying something.

But tomorrow if Rahil Sharif comes on TV and says we are sending 10,000 troops to KSA,
you think our sheepel media will say more than "Miao"

.
Saudis are not even trying to fight their war themselves. They just ask us to fight their's.Saudi Arabia has its Military. It should use its own resources first.

.
Has the ground war started.......have their been any Saudi causalities. ???
But Pakistan has been at war for several years now.....forget Saudi troops, did they even send say a few ambulances.
So let us not be the saviours of others when we have our own worries to address.
The Saudis could do well with sending us some of their gunships which are probably just gathering dust.
