Argentina deserved the loss. They played terribly and shouldn't have qualified in the first place. Nigeria got cheated. I say this with a heavy heart and as a huge Argentina supporter. As a purist football fan I don't believe in fluke and crappy wins. Argentina didn't play according to their potential. Period.

Uruguay playing compact football after scoring quickly. Cavani a very handy and useful player upfront. This is going to get nasty in the 2nd half. Expect Ronaldo to get mean and ugly if the score remains like this.

Indeed,that was a beautiful match ! That's what we like to see. The French team was really disappointing since the start of the world cup but seems like they are waking up. Hope they'll keep up like that til the final and probably bring the cup home who knows... ;-)

France vs Argentina, a very soft PK was given for france with almost minimal contact , and the ball it self was heading out to outside. In typical soccer sense , it is called a dead play. 99% of time this is play on]]

Strangely moments later , South American Team Argentina, Messi in 18 meter box for france he was bundled over but no PK was called nor the referee , called for VAR review which is a right for players to demand

Furthermore on a cross, the referee failed to give a PK when ball appears to hit french player on hand.

(2 PK for Argentina not called in first half)



Portugal vs Uruguay:

Referee was open to not caution Uruguay players, quite a few times he let play go on instead of handing out a yellow, Uruguay was constantly fouling Portuguese defenders

If referee had better control of match more Yellow cards would have been handed out to Uruguay or may be a red for double yellow

in cricket we always had the notion of england and australia playing with 12 players (one being the umpire himself) seems like it happens even in FIFA where european teams seem to be getting assisted by referees.

Right, that why we were robbed of two penalties.

Most stupid action award goes to a Russian for grabbing Sergio Ramos around the waist, pulling him down inside the penalty box after a corner kick. The ONLY reason why Spain was not awarded a penalty kick was that the Russian managed to kick the ball into the Russian goal with the back of his leg while doing it .

Spain & Russia going into 2nd 15-minute period of overtime all tied up at 1 a piece with time of possession in favor of Spain 75% to 25%, but Russia putting up the defensing wall trying to get this to penalty shots, which would be great to see! Hope that happens.
