Food prices in Pakistan almost equal to UK

1kg sugar outside ration stores is priced at 37 rupees. Which, after conversion is still much lower than what's available in Pakistan. Food prices in India are still very low. I dont know why people complain.

Ofcourse, i am talking about the prices in kerala. Dont know if its different elsewhere.

There are many food items that are imported from both Pakistan and India and yet they are sold cheaper in UK comparing to Pakistan or India. I never understand the logic of these countries to send their best products to UK/West/Developed countries and that too with such an affordable price tag that whatever is left behind becomes a burden for the poor public of Pakistan when the shortage of food items is created and the prices are increased to insane level

Lets not equate Indian and Pakistani conditions. There is a world of difference. Food prices in India are considerably lower and subsidized because we can't afford UK standard food like you guys. You know, with us being poor and all.......

And if you consider below poverty line families....you get stuff for almost nothing...so long as you have a ration card.

For example, 1kg rice for 2 rupees .......and 10th rupees for above poverty line families.

I read in Jang that Sugar Prices in some areas has reached 125Rs..I pay between 55 and 92 pence for 1Kg of Sugar here in UK.
That means sugar is cheaper in UK than Pakistan..

Why in the world food has become so expensive in an agricultural country?

This is why we say leave enmity aside and do business with us................Sugar cost is Rs 40/-Kg in India...................

Wow that is pretty expensive. Over here...am not so sure, Its been a while since I bought sugar but I guess it is around 40-45/Kg. And if you buy it in a ration store, its dirt cheap.

From ration stores I pay Rs45 for 2.5 kg of sugar per month. That is around Rs18 per kg of sugar subsidized govt rate. Does no such system available in Pakistan? And unsubsidized its Rs40-45 per kg.

The price of Rs.125 is very high!!!, also India and Pakistan have similar climate and in-fact Pakistan got more land area compare to India in-terms of Population ratio - so such a high price for necessary commodity in a lesser populated country must be due to some ones wrong doing (Hoarding by the traders to increase the price)...

Its true uk is even cheaper if you comapre the prices of juices, eggs, jam, milk , all daal, fruit etc .only things which are cheap in pakistan are beef meat and vegetables

1kg of beef comes around to 200 rs in India (market price) , we arrange to get prime cuts for 350 .

Long life packaged Milk price in UK about 85p per litre or 95Rs per litre.
In Pakistan Nestle milk costs 100+ Rs per litre...

Safriz, do you live on sugar only?

Compare prices of Fruits and Vegetables and other stuff like masala, chilis, Pakistan is much cheaper!!!!! It's not like i buy sugar everyday!

What?! I thought Beef was under 100 bucks!! Oh well, looks like I was living in the past ! But yeah, previously goat used to be around 200, not it is 420 bucks for the prime cut.
