FMG guns for Islamabad police

I smell B.S here..... Looks like misreporting to me, or perhaps a case of misunderstanding..... It must be and has to be SMG rather then FMG.... Procurement of Ump. 45, or MP5 with added accessories, considering its 9mm hence logistically easy..... If not then i guess P90 it will be.... Noway in hell its fmg

.
Ridiculous move, it's just a glock 17 under the plastic molding. Even the cops have to face some heavy firepower, a Pof MP5 or a M4A1 would be much more useful

lthey are already equipped with Mp-5s,M-4s,G3S,Augs,AKs n even K2s.. Domestic fmgs?

Probably more of these:

never seen this thing before
its a pistol with shoulder rest and longer mag. the cocking lever under the barrel made is almost ambidextrous but the cartridge ejection system is sideways. had it been underneath like P90 then that would have been cool.
wondered about its origin and found that it was a cancelled private project in USA

its essentially a pistol
I think the prototype was made by magpul, back when magpul was trying to be a firearms design company led by chris costa of the ACR fame, I remember seeing this in a shot show video of 2010 or something like that. Fan boys for this are from call of duty.

When you bring up the ump, the kris vector is pretty cool too, chambered in .45acp

Crazy move IF true considering the kind of fight these cops are in- a 9mm Glock-17 in a fancy casing is going to be a liability to any officer issued it as their primary weapon.

@FNFAL if it was for UC officers and for ease of concealment then a simple Glock-17 with none of that plastic body tucked under a shirt/Kameez would be FAR more concealable and logical than this product.

a bit off topic @sandy_3126 I've never really understood the point in these pistol-carbine/ conversion kits (effectively what the FMG is) such as:

Why not just go for an MP-5 or any other 9mm SMG instead of these conversion kits?

Why not just go for an MP-5 or any over 9mm SMG?

Cops are using the mps by the shit loads..

^ Because MP-5 cannot be converted back into a side arm!

this news is incomplete man - doesn't even mention who are these weapons for --- each department will require different type of weapon -- you aretalking about Special Branch personnel or Close Protection Operatives - but FMG doesn't make senses ----

not with added accessories like PK-1, they use the basic Mp5k and the mp5a2 - i am expecting p90 and Ump.45

some of the Kris Vector and Scorpion Evo did land in the hands of private collectors and bureaucrats in this part of the world ----

Very good question.

Fully auto 9mm or .45acp are quite difficult to control in full auto with the pistol grip. Thus the conversion kit that helps stabilizes the point of intact. apart from that, if you try to shoot a pistol beyond 40 yards, your accuracy goes down considerably, the reason being shooting stance stabilization and the distance between rear sights and front post being extremely small (3-5 inches). With a conversion kit, there are options even to use a longer barrel, increasing accuracy, additionally distance between front and rear sight is increased leading to better sight picture. And finally a two handed shooting stance which increases shooting stability and repeatability.

The other derivative argument is on the 9mm carbines, and it's effectiveness as a defensive cartridge.... 9mm luger can be lethal upto 440 yards thus the cartridge is still relevant.

Well i see two advantages over a standard glock:
1. The presence of a buttstock for a more aimed engagement. I guess sandy made the same point

2. Extra mag size in a compact cube. You get 30-round mag size in one go. The USP of a FMG is rapid deployment of decent firepower in unsual/unsuspecting situation. The extended mag of any auto pistol, in concealemnt, would most probably would be detached. The operator would have to invest some seconds to feed the same. In the same time , the FMG operator is sizing up his target.

I still think this is a gimmick gun... It's a sham conversion as there is no barrel extension, no rails no optics, no suppressors... Additionally PoF makes two of the most excellent pistols in the market, Berreta 92fs and CZ75 clone turkish SAR, so highly doubt there is a need for glock 17 variants. Much better to stick with a Mp9
