ISLAMABAD- A plan to provide modern FMG guns to the federal police personnel is underway.


Sources informed that this matter was under discussion between the Interior Ministry and the police. The FMG guns are made in Pakistan. Chances of attack on the federal capital have increased after the operation and hence the decision was made to equip the police with FMG guns.


Soon after being trained in FMG gun use, the police will be equipped with the modern domestic arms.

For non-mil application moving away from 7.62 Nato is a smart move. 5.56 and 9mm is cheaper, when you look at longterm application for Law enforcement the 7.62 Nato ammo cost piles up pretty fast.

ICP is already testing G-3S SBR. There is a version with retractable stock and suppressor available too.

7.62x39 might be a good choice then... I doubt if cops need to hit out at 600 yards.

Is pakistan planning to deploy hundreds of plains-clothes policemen? Apart from that scenario i see no reason to prefer this over the mp5.
