FM Khar: Enough is enough, Pakistan says 'no' to US pressure

It's not a question of Pakistan being a superpower etc all of a sudden.
The WOT has taken a huge toll not only in terms of lives lost and economy ruined but it has also caused a fatigue against the violence caused inside Pakistan by the WOT--in all segments of the Pakistani society. Even the most liberals of the liberals are beginning to see that, yes, the Talibans and their counterparts pose a huge threat to Pakistan but the Western presence in Afghanistan is not entirely or even mostly about global terrorism. Some kind of larger game is being played out and so long as that game is being played out Pakistan will not see peace.
Against this background--nay, against this national consensus, there are now obvious signs of push back by Pakistan. Yes, Pakistan will pay a price in terms of its economy (very dependent upon the West) but Pakistan will survive even punitive sanctions. Peace is required within Pakistan.
Hina Rabbani Khar is the voice of the Pakistani consensus. Never before in the history of Pakistan the GHQ and civilian leadership (from all parties) as well the media have come together so often to meet and formulate policies both within and outside of the Parliament. In the calculus of the entire Pakistani leadership, peace inside Pakistan is of topmost concern--even if it means crippling economic sanctions are imposed.

very well said and this is what we have been saying since the last 10 years while accused of being talibans or their supporters

pak society can't accept taliban and its agenda they have every right to participate in elections if they have any appeal in masses and if they don't we will kill them but

first we have to realise this wot is not helping our cause in any way
we need to get out of this stupid war sooner then later

How many times USA has apologized to Britain? I dont think even once and the list is long..see for yourself.

List of U.S. friendly-fire incidents since 1945 with British victims

Camera footage from a U.S. A-10, as it begins an attack on a British vehicle squadron, March 2003.

The difference is that there is enough circumstantial evdence to prove that this was NO FRIENDLY FIRE! Rather INTENDED FIRE

Hopefully PPP wont give into U.S. pressure. PPP will destroy its political party if it opens NATO supply routes.

This is the First time in a long Time Government has to make decisions in the favor of Pakistan , even if they want it or not , because if they dont the people are not going to overthrow them they are going to kill them.

now the situation is clear usa attacked pakistani soldiers after that ppp will get tough on nato/usa(only till elections)gain immense public sympathy win the next elections and than business of looting pakistan as usual.

lol wat will happen to imran khan now.elections are in 2012 or 2014 and which month ?

Don't you think its easy for Pak to allow all those Taliban to cross border and go to Afghanistan rather than killing each and everyone of them if answer is yes then I think that afghan and Nato officials are wright that the fire came from Pak side first. And if thats the thing which has happened then I think this attack was quite justified hence why an appology??

And why this WOT is not helping?? Why do want to see terrorists on Pak soil??

Assalam alaikum

i got no sympathy for this ppp govt. but army also has to be put under pressure coz it has failed on number of occasions , no point of saying the old story.

most of all it is we the public of pakistan must put pressure on all those parties to not sell us so cheaply

when NATO / USA kills our people , its an innocent mistake.....when its the other way round...its an act of terrorism by muzzies.

It was not an innocent mistake but a power packed response , Afghan govt has allready said that the fire came first from Pak side.

The reason why both US and NATO are acting in such a innocent way coz of their supply lines which pass through Pak .

and why would pakistani soldiers fire at them? must be a very good reason for that?
