SHANGHAI - An unidentified flying object (UFO) disrupted air traffic over Zhejiang's provincial capital Hangzhou late on Wednesday, the municipal government said on Thursday.

Xiaoshan Airport was closed after the UFO was detected at around 9 pm, and some flights were rerouted to airports in the cities of Ningbo and Wuxi , said an airport spokesman, who declined to be named.

The airport had resumed operations, and more details will be released after an investigation, he said.

A source with knowledge of the matter, however, told China Daily on Thursday that authorities had learned what the UFO was after an investigation.

But it was not the proper time to publicly disclose the information because there was a military connection, he said, adding that an official explanation is expected to be given on Friday.

Inbound flights were diverted to the nearby airports in Zhejiang province's Ningbo and Jiangsu province's Wuxi. Outbound flights were delayed for three to four hours.

A staff member at the airport's information desk said the airport had "no idea" how many flights were affected by the closure.

At around 11 pm on Wednesday, a netizen wrote three entries announcing the airport's closure in

his microblog at Sina.com, but they were all soon deleted.

He posted an apology at midnight, saying the news had not been confirmed and asking those who had republished his earlier entries to delete them.

hmmmm.........Interesting Indeed.so China is developing UFOs .............or Americans are trying to scare chinese off .Just to tell thm tht Aliens(Americans) are spying on the chinese .

.
Some reports said that it's B-2 bomber

.
May be its ufo version of china...

Remember ?? One theory says it was the 'secret' advanced aircrafts that USAF was testing .

.
Not sure why they would need a week before they disclose what it was, but I think it might be related to PLA.

btw unrelated but for assets like hypersonic craft or space plane would it be under PLAAF or second artillery as they are strategic weapons. (assumes that china develops them)?

Some reports said that it's B-2 bomber

I dont think so Americans aint fool to breach in to China with a bomber.
I think its sum sort of experimentation done by Chinese themselves.

.
Might be related to the live-fire exercise. Most likely they need to test something and would like to disclose it after the evaluation was done.

For all we know it could even be just a modified transport plane !

The thing is why would they want to take something military in a place where it would attract high publicity, unless they intend to do exactly just so.

.
Earlier today I seen a UFO too, and pardon my french, but i think we're all screwed.

. .
That really doesn't look like a B-2 bomber, there's nothing stealthy about that object lol.

.
Yeah Looks like a civil airline jet to me.Look at it clearly and you can see lights in its windows (Looks like passenger jet).

. .
Looks like an unmanned plane to me. But, why would they test a plane with military application close to civilian airport. If this was a test flight, it should have happened in isolated areas.

.
It won't be a B2 if its picked up by those civilian radars. Aliens! Aliens!! :partay:
