Maj Thapa from 71 Armoured Regiment. Incident took place at midnight last night. In altercation, mobile screen broke. Jawan opened fire.

Its RR only. There are RR Battalions for Armoured Corps as well. This must be one of them..

In fact, there are RR battalions for every Arm. Most RRs are affiliated with the various Regiments of Infantry. Some RRs are affiliated with Artillery and some with Armoured Corps. They take soldiers and officers deputed from the arm/corps of their affiliation.

For example, Chandu Babu Lal Chavan, the soldier who crossed over the LoC, was an Armoured soldier serving in RR at that time.

opening fire on commanding officer just because he slapped you for not following discipline?
If this is the reason behind this incident then it is some disciplinary training for one of worlds largest army.
I mean this is the first thing taught at military academies. Recruits are punished and humiliated by senior officers on not following orders or breach of discipline.
