Five nations to seek solutions to Muslim issues at KL Summit 2019

Good thinking. We need to work around the Arab-Persian ego-wars (yes I know the Qatari's are Arabs). We need to focus on increased trade, skills exchange, investment and research amongst our nations.

We need to circulate our wealth within our own nation states as much as we possibly can, this is the only way we can help each other stand on our feet. None of the other problems will be fixed until we can bankroll solutions, or financially incentivise cooperation. It's just the world we live in.

Yup, I am agree on that.

Most of the problem going on in the Muslim world IMO happen because they cannot manage their differences. The best thing to solve this problem is actually through democratization. We can clearly look on Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, and Yaman as the worst example of it. If only their leader choose to embrace democracy to solve dispute between factions inside the country, we would see better face of Muslim world now. Afghanistan chooses democracy but unfortunately Taliban refuse to do so, similar thing happen in Somalia where Al Shabab still use force to realize their dream.

Those nations are failed to do transition from authoritarian regime into a democratic system. On contrary Pakistan, Turkey, and Indonesia are successful to do so while Malaysia democracy has been going on ever since the country independence. On the other hand, Qatar is a kingdom nation that support democratization in the Arab world and has Aljazeera channel which is now going live on Youtube.

These 5 nations should be more vocal on Muslim issue and should set up joint meeting regularly to promote democratization in the Muslim world since it is the system that is the best to solve internal conflict of a nation.

Sunni and Shia thing should also be addressed.

Yes, we actually do need democracy in the Islamic world. It may not be a perfect system in Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey or Malaysia but it shows that if you give some say to the population then they are much stronger socially than say the Egypt or Syrian repressive systems & military rule.

Once that foundation is there the very next step should be to strengthen the economy and industrialise. There is nothing in Islam that says we should not develop our economies and focus on that rather than obsess with sectarian or social nonsense.

Yup, it is similar like USA and West European countries which have embrace democracy since very early and we can see they become advance nation. In order to be a developed and strong nation, we should be able to manage our internal conflict first.

There is always a competition between nationalist/secular vs Islamist in any Muslim nation just like in the West with right and left parties. Despite some differences, those faction still can cooperate in a mature democratic countries.

Yup, I also hope that we can grow our economy faster and become industrialized.

It is very important that these central powers produce a model of cooperation based on common morality values and interests with the countries of Central Asia, Balkan Muslims, Sub Saharan, East and North Africa.

Do you know what the Western and Arab/iranian world call us Turks in Anatolia? Mongols. LOL
A reason why the Muslim world will never have peace.:lol::lol::lol:

It was a Mongol aka Berke Han that helped save the Muslim World.

Berke Han+ Qutuz/Baybars saved the Islamic World from the Mongols destroying the Islamic World.

But nobody gives the credit due because Turks and Mongols are "evil".

My perspective on the politics is different. Societies across the world are different. Perhaps in your country democracy works, but in our country it hinders. The unfortunate thing is we don't yet have an alternative that works. Either way, regardless of model of governance, the basic needs of people are the same, energy, safety, shelter, food, medical care, education. After that people look to political freedom, prosperity etc. Whatever type of leader you are, if your people have their basic needs met and you can provide a degree of prosperity and a degree of political freedom - then you can function easily as a society. In all nations, leaders who look after national interest will consider this. Problem is sometimes we have leaders who only consider self interest.

These 5 are the most prestigious Muslim countries since Arabs are the West's puppets and Iran is busy with exporting Shia ideology.

Well said. The Muslim world should be led by modern, progressive countries like Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Pakistan. Given that much of the Muslim world is non-Arab, it would make sense it was led by non-Arabs.

I dont think democracy in Pakistan hinders development there, at least you are not in chaos just like some countries that I have mentioned earlier. Pakistan economy is still growing despite the growth becomes slower starting last year after Imran Khan took office, but it is more on the effect of trade war than other thing, for instant Singapore will get 1 percent or even minus growth this year. Terrorism in Pakistan is also decreasing and central government now has controlled Waziristan. Pakistan IMO need more decentralization, thats it.

Democracy itself is not enough, as a young nation after being colonized by Western powers for so long, it is natural to have corrupt government just like even US during Alcapone time, but we can fight it trough setting up an independent anti corruption body which have big power. It takes time, we need to be patience.

.
Oh jeez. Can they ever group together for issues like education, scientific research or climate change. Islam being the largest religion might make impact in those areas.

. . .
PM IK should have gone there instead of foreign minister.

There is no news either whether Jokowi will fly to Malaysia tonight or tomorrow morning. There is no confirmation whether he will come or not.

According to Indonesian Vice President, Ma'ruf Amin who is also an Ulama, this effort can be the force to strengthen OIC or ending up making a new group.

Ma'ruf Amin will likely represent Indonesia in this summit.
