Fiscal constraints hit Pakistan’s production of Al-Khalid-I tanks

.
I suspect in the case of HIT and the AK it's specifically red-tape and fishiness more so than lack of funding. Though the Committee should also be careful about routing the money to MoDP. Yes the MoDP has been alright since 2013, but a change in gov't need not guarantee that in the long-term. We need to en-fang the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) such that it can inquire as deeply as India's CAG on these issues, and then level critical review of how funds are being spent.

How many Al Khalid 1 PA is going for 110 or 200 ?

. .
In 2016 Pakistan ordered 200 6TD-2 engines from Ukraine. So probably 200 (assuming some of the engines aren't for overhaul or replacement purposes).

What about those M48A5 Pattons? Are they still in reserve (to use in case of conflict) or they are discarded?

. .
It doesnt even matter when whole fleet is not going to be replaced by AK series, at least the capability is there. The budget could have been diverted towards other urgent acquisitions/production/projects/research. The only way it affects currently is shifting more T-59's to FC, which could have been replaced by AK. The funds/time is not wasted if shifted from AK production to modern Gunships (T-129, Mi-24), new Artillery (wheeled or towed) and MRAP's. In case of urgent MBT acquisition, Pakistan still has an option of buying from another country which is why Oplots were trialled.

reserve.

The Committee recommended changing the disbursal method by having the money routed to the MoDP directly (instead of the MoD?).

Sounds like red-tape (and other funny-funny activity) clogging up the pipe between Army procurement funds and defence production.
Repair of current combat vehicles has taken up a lot of funds.

Agreed. Let's not also forget the cost of fighting a perpetual (self-funded) war in FATA and the Afghan border. IMO it has been a blessing for India that Pakistan's been locked into this fight for 10+ years (without much aid). Zarb-e-Azb at its peak cost $1.9 bn per year. Just extrapolate the direct costs (not accounting for indirect losses) over 10 years - i.e. $15-20 bn in *defence* spending.

because of instead of negotiating with some afghan specific fighters we fought them, and than we made enemies of everone which is fine but than we got blamed for doing double game as well which isnt fine

1-2 billion dollars isnt as big as compared to loss we got by having negative image of lawlessness due to lack of bringing FATA reforms and allowing foreign attacks/drone attacks

Pakistan should have simply mined and fenced afghan boarder immediately as it has the eastern boarder, brought quick and swift reforms in FATA and withdrawn its majority troops for settled areas as fast it can, because military is neither trained nor suitable for internal peace keeping, local police is....

especially when military is mostly belonging to punjabi ethnic group and area under question is pushtoon and baloch

15 years and we could fence or bring reforms in FATA..

why?
I guess its drugs, smuggling and corruption

Well HIT needs a good beefy Qatari contract for Al Khalid Tanks
why would qatar buy alkhalid, its lighter tank and no where as good as western options
untill pakistan ups its armour, get full indigenous engine TOT its not going to sell alkhalid, simple..nobody wants to deal with multiple vendors just for engine etc

al zarrar update might be useful in thrid world countries

.
The fact we have not made sale of Al Khalid to a customer outside of Pakistan has slowed down progress of the Tank

reserve.

Are those reserve M48A5 Pattons, T-54/55 and Type 63 tanks capable of fighting during war times?

. . .
Can you share some pictures of M48, t-54 and 55?

Can we stop this western dilemma that they are better tanks didn't FATA proved even Al Zarrar had great protection against anti tank weaponry ?
Reality is different non of western tanks in last 3 decades have actually fought a real tank. the Iraqi and Afghani tanks were outdated or low quality downgraded tanks. Al Khalid Tank is capable of penetrating 600mm of Armour at 2 km it will do better at lower ranges. non of western tanks side or rear is greater than 400 - 500 mm of armor it can fight any tank and will fare well against them. Its the Arabs who are ignorant and wasting millions on sanctioned weaponry and unreliable source. If they buy from countries like Pakistan it will not only give them better weaponry if not best but no sanctions and all weather all time support.

with ERA AK is protected with at least 800 mm of armor there is not tank that can fire round and hits at 0 degree incidence to penetrate armor of AK that easily. there is at least 50% chance that it could withstand rounds. Hell even Iraqi downgraded sometimes withstand a direct M1a2 or m1a1 tank hit and do note that Iraqi T 72 had no more than 300 mm of armor even at turret.

In Urban warfare terrain where battles would be fought in no more than 2 km away from each other AK will fight fairly against any tank.

AK is modular tank not just Ukraine there are many vendors including china that can provide engines. And China is not like west that gonna just embargo everyone.
