. . .
kinda look familiar ..

we have this every year in karachi :D

Very very bad drainage. May be they never knew they would need it.

.
Historically it never used to rain like this in Saudi Arabia. This is probably the first time something like this happened in Riyadh. Before that it was in Jeddah.

Something is really going and weather patterns are changing with Saudi Arabia getting a lot of excess rain than usual

.
they should know about drainage, they do use flush systems I hope.

.
A 45-minute downpour on Monday, which included light hail and winds that gusted up to 42km/hour, caused flooding and hours-long traffic jams across the city.

Saudi Arabia's Al Watan newspaper reported that two people were killedand that the flooding caused 275 car accidents.

Prince Faisal bin Abdullah, Saudi Arabia's minister of education, announced that schools would be closed in Riyadh on Tuesday, with colleges and universities following suit.

Authorities also announced a state of emergency, and told residents not to use their vehicles unless necessary.

Al Jazeera English - Middle East - Heavy rains flood Riyadh streets

Sadly from the pics it would seem the drivers have no experience of the danger of driving through flood waters. If its too deep to see the road its too deep to drive through you never know when 10 inches of water are actually covering a 6foot hole.

.
I think that People of Riyadh Never Thought about these kind of things .

In two Years There was no rain in Riyadh and after that such a Heavy Raining Caused damages.

.
Most of the rain water drainage systems in middle east are quite unprepared for rains like these.

Climate has drastically changed over these years. water is flowing like oil in SA
