First Picture of C-17 ‘Globemaster’ for Indian air force surfaces.
First Pictures of C-17 ’Globemaster’ (F-253/IAF-1) CB-8001 for Indian air force have surfaced online , coming in tarmac from its production hanger at Long Beach Airport . Aircraft is been prepared for its first flight and ground trails are scheduled for this month , first aircraft seen in the picture will be handed over to Indian air force in mid of 2013 and Boeing has promised that all 10 aircrafts ordered by Indian air force will be handed over to Indian air force by end of 2014 .
Even with just 10 C-17 ’Globemaster’ , IAF will become second biggest operator of this transport aircraft after all deliveries are completed , United states air force is the largest operator of C-17 ’Globemaster’ . Indian air force plans to acquire Six more of this aircraft but Boeing with out any further orders from other countries will close down the production line after Indian order is completed in 2014 and Boeing has urged India to make a faster decision on follow up order of 6 aircrafts before 2014 , so that Production line can be kept open for one more year to complete India’s follow up order.
