As expected, they just took the Pak Fa model of Maks 2011 and painted it in IAF colors and remain with the secrecy about the final version.

So India is gonna buy 50 or so pieces of these MKI'sed PAK-FAs while development of the twin seater FGFA is still in the works. No?

1st FGFA will also single seater fighter. Initially IAF planed of 50 PAKFA & 300 FGFA but later IAF want to increase PAKFA upto 100+, simultaneously cut the FGFA no. Let us see what happen in future. That will remain mystry untill induction. You know future is always.......:azn:

No, IAF don't want the early version that the Russians will induct, they want the fully developed NG version, therefor will wait. As it seems there was a change of the partnership and India might not go for a twin seat version anymore, not sure what the reasons could be, but it actually reduced the Indian workpart.

@sancho You talked about FGFA underbelly and its engine nozzles.

Kindly post more about FGFA's underbelly regarding stealth.

So no twin seaters? That means there's going to be a fundamental shift in the air dominance/air superiority doctrine from the present one being employed with Su-30MKI?

It might have to do with cost reasons dono, but I find it highly stupid to not go for twin seaters. A twin seater FGFA is actually the perfect "quaterback" if you want, be it for following 4.5th gen fighters, or for AURA UCAVs in future. With the advantage of stealth, the wide angle of AESA radar detections, besides the long range 360° detection capabilities, modern satcom datalinks, it offers huge advantages in these roles, where a backseat WSO obviously is preferable.
Same goes for possible strike attacks, where FGFA is a prime choice for preemptive and deepstrikes.
