I've been in a C-17 and it was pretty darn big, not been inside a C-5 but naturally you'd expect that to be larger.



These C-17s are meant to replace the IL-76s and by 2015 all 10 will be delviered and by 2017/18 the 6-15 follow-on units will be delivered also. Why keep the IL-76s around till 2020-25?

Why decommission them so early? AFAIK we would be the first country to do so.

And agan we r going for medium lift. I wish for c27j

Your assumption is fairly wrong, All our guns are pointed at Pakistan,

Let me give an example, When VK Singh was Inagurated as army chief of India to NDTV he mentioned clearly there is some sort of proxy war going on between India and Pakistan he mentioned.

India's policy towards china is to mention a minimum deterrence against China. First We need to focus on Pakistan who will continue to be our No.1 Enemey.

Best investment .. even though the americans don't do any techology transfer or licenced production in India.

These transports are really vital.. and fit into the defence needs, perfectly.

I value these much much much much more than MMRCA or even FGFA.

Hope the operational experience flying these will aid (atleast to some little extent), the development of technologies and production base to built such awesome birds in India, after some time.

b) You expect India to nothing when you will increase your arsenal with F-16 Block 52 aircraft's. Whether you agree or not, Pakistan army chief has replied that they are India Centric, Similarly we are also Pakistan Centric.
