What's new

First fully developed muslim country is about to emerge.. Equalizing Europe

.
Should we be like Communist China, that makes its people work into like machines (leaving individual choice of life aside) Or should we be like American Capitalists (free market) that creates disparity among community in a sense where you have a guy having monopolies and the other that has his/her house prone to foreclosure...

The 2 sides (Communist China, American Capitalists) you listed are the extreme of each side. There is a middle ground and countries like Scandinavia, Australia etc have achieved it.

The United States isn't doing capitalism correctly which is causing the huge income disparity and the huge monopolies, while at the same time they are trying to incorporate socialist aspects into society which is furthering the problem.

The tax system needs be right and the providing of welfare shouldn't be over the top.

Turkey: Yes
UAE: Maybe
Saudi Arabia: BIG NO

I am talking solely about economic development with those comments. Saudi Arabia is doing very well.

Turkey has set a good example to all muslim countries with its secular credentials and welfare of society.

Complacency leads to decline. America is great, and remains great, because they never rest -- always keeping one step head of the competition.

Developereo mate, If America is on the fast track (presently), think of Turkey on an unprescribed dose of steroids! :)

As long as Oil and holy tourism is there Saudi Arabia will keep breathing. Actually even in current condition it is not doing so well. The rate of unemployment rate is almost 22%, lack of agriculture resources, , lack of population to sustain a massive area, govt lacking capability to make policies, lack of human rights, etc....

Well many things can be argued here, however i will try to be very brief...

It depends on a country's system of interest. Of course what i'm giving you an example of explicitly deals with socialism. Here you usually don't create the mindset for scarce resource in your people. I wont deny the fact that population plays a pivotal role. When there is supply, there is demand. But even if we have to take this into consideration, what really is another ideal world out there. Should we be like Communist China, that makes its people work into like machines (leaving individual choice of life aside) Or should we be like American Capitalists (free market) that creates disparity among community in a sense where you have a guy having monopolies and the other that has his/her house prone to foreclosure...

I disagree with your characterization of China -- it is very much a capitalist system, albeit with strong government regulations. There is (mostly) free movement of labor and capital.

The American system does have its excesses, but it, too, has moderating influences mandated by the government -- perhaps more are needed.

In any case, returning to the topic at hand, the big difference in Turkey is that they have decided science and technology -- modernity in general -- are not Western ploys to destroy their culture. The problem with other Muslim countries is this mistrust of change, and the weird belief that science and technology are 'Western' impositions.

As much as I admire China, I doubt even China or Europe can unseat America from its throne, let alone any other country. Turkey is doing gangbusters, but it has a long way to go before coming anywhere close to American capabilities (technologically).

Look, no one is talking about unseating US of A. There are no clearly defined measure of unseating USA *technologically*. Are you talking of US's *warfare technology,* it's infrastructure, it's economical might, it's welfare or in general it's bullying capabilities?

Rest of the world is doing pretty well on most of the fronts, such as, infrastructure, macro-economic policy, welfare of it's citizens, peace with rest of the world, strong inter-nations business ethics and code of conduct. Yes they all lack in two fields *warfare* and *bullying REST OF THE WORLD*.

I agree, China has 3 more decades to catch up with the US regarding the missing ingredients of being a *developed state*. Regarding Europe, forget it. They're more interested in siesta than to work. Look at them, they are exactly what they were when Rome fell, just a tad bit more cultured, that they no longer feel the need to go on raping and pillaging trips!

It's because Turkey made the decision to stop living in the 1300's and to modernize and to get with the times instead of living in the past.

It shows other muslim nations that if they choose to live like it's still the 1300's, they can't expect to be anything like Turkey.

It's amazing to see how liberal and modern the Turkish people are now.

its amazing how a kangaroo is speaking

Turkey has set a good example to all muslim countries with its secular credentials and welfare of society.

what about poor india? doesnt it need an example from muslim countries to bring muslim tolerance to its persecuted muslim minority

Why come into a discussion and throw insults? How about actually contributing something to the discussion? That would be a great start.

It's better if Turks, Pakistanis and others do not follow the Indian example.

Indian habit
Talk first, then achieve nothing.

Ideal habit
Achieve first, then talk.

We should try to follow the second course of action. And, GCC on the whole is very much developed in terms of economy, living standards. Their issues remain backward tribal kingdoms where kings rule is 'perfect' and 'mandatory' even if it goes against Islam, same as Turkey under Kemalists, and Turkey today is trying to change that little by little, but not yet fully successful.

Turkey is developing because they keep religion a side.

Bangladesh under BAL is suffering because BAL has officially adopted secularism.

You certainly need to get out on a world trip!

I do not have sufficient time, money, patience to take the trouble to go on a world trip for some comment on an internet forum. If you can provide some information to prove my points wrong, I will be glad for the education.
