Looks like the pontoon was fixed to a semi-submersible transport ship- smart! I always wondered how these things were tested exactly. The DRDO must have a long term contract with the ship's owners.

What happened at 0:14 ? The rocket flames seemed to recede and then suddenly came up again..

that's changing phases
either it involves phase 2 engine taking over or engines as well as type of propellant changing (liquid to solid or solid to liquid fuel).

Maximize the video and watch closely between 0.13 to 0.16. you will see that its stage separation, missile drops almost 1/3 rd of its end portion and flames ignites again from second stage.The length of missile also shortens after 0:16. Just watch closely.

It happens so quickly within 2 seconds that you have to watch it over and over with maximum screen

That's the point, the engine ignition of a SLBM only takes place above the surface of water & below it, it travels only by the starting inertia provided by the sub. Look at the Trident launch:


But for launching the SLBMs, a sub has to come closer to the surface.

same here... isnt the ship tooo long? roughly 10 times the length of rocket!
