No, no need for that. The FMS route while being faster actually adds on costs wrt to a 'tender' sale.
So far as 'single-vendor' sales are concerned; the rules for that has been changed already.
Sikorsky is pretty high up in the IN's wish-list and will be logical to continue with them.
Finally, this deal (if it fructifies) will give a big impetus to the TATA-Sikorsky JV in India; which will not only aid acquisition but even maintenance of these Helos in India. MoD will do well to fix Sikorsky into this program.

Alright then, its music to my ears. I am happy as long as our forces get their goods in time.

I am sure, if we sit down to calculate time value of money, FMS is cheaper than tender.

that's what i'm worried... Some systems like Helis can be replaced as we're already developing them... Appache is only going to be limited in numbers... but systems like Poseidon and global masters even Chinook... not sure if we've any of our systems could replace them. And once we buy American systems in future to replace them again these people will ask for better weapons from US only... hope US don't double cross us

Inventory will never be full of weapons from US, a variant domestic version will be complementing each every foreign purchase. Thats the new policy.

India is getting weapons from multiple countries.

I admire they want to end corruption on these deals but moving at a galatial pace does not serve country's interests either.

It means MOD may be cancelled that deal coze of single vendor situation and go to g2g (fms) route.
Also I don't understand why MoD dnt combined that deal 16+124.
USA already offered us if the deal is more then 100+ helicopter then will provide the required TOT for licence built.
