The Army is an institution of the Govt. of India. There is no Army vs Govt like it is in middle east cave loving countries.
The Army is asked professional advice by the GoI. The Army complies and gives its advice. It is then up to the GoI to whether accept it and incorporate it in policy or not in the ultimate wisdom of the the Govt.

In the Siachen case, the GoI accepted Army's report and made policy accordingly.

There is zero semblance of parity or equality in any shape or form between the GoI and the Indian Army.

These things of protocol and Rule of Law are some of the harder concepts to understand for our western neighbours.

What is noteworthy is that the most extremist of Hindus, in the rss of wherever, are more tolerant and accepting of other religions than supposedly moderate Muslims. RSS or VHP do not go around murdering innocent Muslims or encourage genocide, while ordinary musims are happy to support such activities or the extermination of minorities in Pakistan or elsewhere

They are not uncomfortable questions at all, at least not for those willing to actually analyze the situation objectively.

Pakistan was right next to Afghanistan, and, unfortunately, it was a country with a greater degree of corruption, lawlessness and people who were sympathetic to OBL's extremist ideology than Iran, and therefore made the most sense in terms of being a hideout for OBL after the invasion of Afghanistan. Saudi Arabia was simply too far for him to travel to safely.

But irrespective of all that, the fact remains that OBL and Al Qaeda called Afghanistan their home until the invasion of Afghanistan by the US, therefore the US invasion of Afghanistan to destroy Al Qaeda was the correct one, and Karzai is, as usual, talking out of his rear end.
