He talks quite a bit on tax returns, i think we need an economic census.

Each household should be asked how many people live there, what their costs are, (these should be compared with averages) and then asked what their income is. This should give us an idea of peoples household income (albiet not a very accurate one). Businesses should also be audited to try and get an idea of their incomes and profits.

Based on this information people should be asked to file tax returns, anyone who doesn't should be fined heavily. Anyone who files figures which seem odd compared to records should be investigated.

I know we won't be able to get every penny from everyone, but if we can start getting a few people, once the word spreads, people will start filing tax returns and paying some tax, even if it is to hide the rest of their wealth from the tax man. We need to start from somewhere.

Going cashless is something we should defintely be doing, but right now we are a high cash society. Most people don't have bank accounts or salaried jobs. Until that changes, it'd be hard to go cashless, especially in rural or poorer urban areas. Cashless is something the middle class can easily do.

For example, instead of Visa/Master backed debit cards, setup own local payment system which will reduce the costs, Almost all mobile companies of Pakistan are now also providing financial services same as bank for poor class, ask them to also issue cards integrated with this local payment system, so these mobile accounts will become at par with bank accounts. And by removing higher denomination notes and taxes on cash with drawl people will have no choice except adopting digital transactions.

What are the risks involved in this?

I don't see any additional risk - infrastructure reliability & cyber security risks are already there even for current financial system, but yes we have to ensure connectivity (broadband, wireless, 4g etc.) across country. Here you can use card literally everywhere except beggars of course - but It doesn't suite corrupts, big tax evaders and mafias as transactions can be monitored.

Notices have been sent to 169 biggest tax evaders, and within a week a few hundred more notices will be sent, eventually this number will rise to thousands. These are not my words but Asad Umar's in his speech. You would have known had you put down that donkey boti and actually listened.

Don't worry I'm not concerned about 200 billion as long as your rouhani baap Nawaz Sharif remains ineligible to run for office. It is a small price to pay to have suwar out of parliament and his chutia supporters scurrying like COCKroaches.

It does not matter.

The fact to keep in mind that Pakistan now has the its dream team with the Captain it wanted to try out. Now there are no more excuses for any lack of measurable results for the short and mid-term. Please give them some time and see what unfolds. Only then would any rational judgments will be possible.

What's the rush to judge now?

May be the future is indeed bright for Pakistan under the present leadership. One hopes.
