Hanoi first metro line

The test run begun on Monday to inspect all aspects of the Cat Linh-Ha Dong Metro Line, including functioning stations with staff on duty in operation rooms and at ticket booths.

Even though no passengers have been allowed in, automatic ticket gates and lighting are turned on for inspection.

Safety features such as fire systems have all been checked.

All 13 trains will participate in the trial run, with six to nine operating each day, running the complete route.

Signs have been installed in Vietnamese and English to assist commuters, along with a loud speaker system.

The 20-day trial is a mandatory step in the inspection process before the Chinese contractor can hand over the project to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The depot for train maintenance is almost completed.

At least some signs of progress
While other five or so metro lines in Saigon show no end in sign :hitwall:

congrats, metro lines are one of the best and most efficient ways to get around a large city.

with the picture of the station, there are no barrier to the tracks. you really want barriers to protect against people getting pushed onto the tracks, accidents, and jumpers.

Cost increased to nearly $1 billion.
The worst of all: multi year delays


When can you stop lies about problem you don't know?. The project started in around 2009 and was planned to be put in operation in Apr 2019.

Compared with other metro projects (3 by Japan, 01 by French), this made in China project is the best in term of delivery schedule and second best in price (second least over-budgeted).

Congrats to Vietnam! Credit to China! Judging by this line's alignment it should hit 300,000 passengers/day mark very quickly.

They started talking about the Yen Vien Ngoc Hoi line (line 1, funded by Japan) perhaps before this Cat Linh Ha Dong one. Bur now they are still talking. Engineering design has not been completed and zero site work.
