India should work on Mumbai airport finally. I heard its really below standards.

Anyone got pictures of that? I saw a few pictures it seemed fine, not so bad.

Dear Asim .. GVK has taken over the Mumbai Airport Project ..
although they are doing very good job .. they have been facing problems of removing encroachments.. ..

As far as I know there are scheduled international flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkotta, Chenai, Hyderabad, Bengalore, Ahmedabad, Trivandrum, Amritsar, Kanpur, Varanasi and Goa.

It started operating with limited flights, but its actual inauguration is in March.

Yes. Most of my family from my mothers side never immigrated post partititon whereas my grand father and family shifted to Pakistan. So a few of my Aunts and uncles remained in Hyderabad. I still have cousins in Hyderabad and Aligarh. However a lot of them have moved out to Canada and America.

I think cochin international apirport is one of the best in India now. They have improved a lot. Last time i visited cochin and its a beautiful city.

Sahar International Airport is undergoing renovation. The GoI is privatising the airport and the capacity is going to be increased to 20 million passengers a year. The deadline is 2010.

Meh...the new Bangalore airport is far better than the new Hyderabad airport.

Secondly, you have to see what the Mumbai airport becomes after it is remade. Do you know, its being refurbished and new terminals constructed now, but right after commonwealth games, the entire airport will be torn down and a completely new one will be made? One worker there was commenting that what he was building is going to be demolished anyway, so whats the point, lol.

And the Delhi Airport. Look at it after its construction is done. I think MIAL and DIAL will be the only two airports that can match any other airport in any country in size as well as grandeur. And Mumbai will get a second airport as well, right after the new one is completely remade in Navi Mumbai.

There are plans for a second one near Delhi as well. Mayawati wants it, in Greater Noida. But DIAL will be much ahead of the growth curve when it opens just like MIAL unlike new Hyderabad and Bangalore airports, that seem to be adequate for its current passenger load, not future. And to think Bangalore will be an aviation hub in the future...
