The one on the left is that matters. We should have something like that.

As far as British Indian congress(supported by anglo-Indians) is in power, Bhim has no chance even if its better than any system in world.

I think after denel was banned this project was abandoned although it was almost completed and even test were made. If denel would have won that competition, Bhim would have entered into the service. Now DRDO is going to start work on 2-3 artilleries (1 in almost all segment). Whatever drdo does i think they should do it quickly because IA has induct around 1500 of these and the production of such huge number will take almost a decade, a time which IA don't have thanx to the delay in this deal for more than a decade...

i agree...

Why ERA bricks make it a monkey model?
what is wrong in having them

Just slapping Kontakt-1 doesn't make it as much advanced as the original soviet model.Optics, FCS, armour and a lot of other things matter as well.By the mid 80's or late 80's we could have had this same variant. We only started upgraded our T-72M's during late 90's and the early 21st century and still quite a lot have to be upgraded.

My only point here is that we could have bought the T-72A's that the Soviets were using that time and later the T-72B with heavier armour instead of the downgraded T-72M's.

We are still missing a high quality video of Arjun on the run, except few glimpses from the NATGEO Mission Army. DRDO is very poor in PR, may be our minister think they do not need it!

But the most important news from the techfocus is Bhim is back. :)

Until the firm is lifted from black list you can put the project in rest... I dont think the south african firm will be able to come out of it very soon..

Well during the 90,s we could not afford the those models and the soviets did not offer us the superior model. In early 90s Army planned for upgrades but our economy didnt support.
Since now we could afford it now we are engaging in The 'gold standard' upgrade package' which includes:
• A new fire control system: the Drawa-T from PCO-Cenzin of Poland. The Drawa-T is present on the Polish PT-91 tanks, their much improved variant of the T-72, and a muzzle reference system.

• A thermal imager integrated with the Drawa-T fire control system, supplied by Israel's El-Op.

• New radios: DRDO's and BEL's (Bharat Electronics Ltd) state-of-the-art frequency hopping combat net radio, to be manufactured by BEL.

• A fibre optic gyro-based navigation system: BEL's advanced land navigation system.

• Laser Warning System: Designed by DRDO, BEL and Indian Industry, to be manufactured by BEL.

They will still be having Kontakt-1 ERA when others have Kaktus or Relikt.Personally I think they should go for the above mentioned upgrades along with the Relikt ERA, 2A46M5 with Refleks launching capability and newer engine possibly the V92S2 as in the T-90S.

The Kanchan Armour of the Arjun MBT is made by Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory. The Kanchan Armour consists of a composite layer sandwiched between layers of RHA.The armor is made of various advanced alloys making it very lightweight but more compact and voluminous.A 315mm plate of Kanchan armor has same weight as a 120mm RHA plate but it has more volume. The Kanchan is a spaced armor with empty space between the layers and this arrangement is almost immune against HESH and HEAT rounds.Kinetic energy rounds such as the APFSDS rounds face difficulty in penetrating this armor as the round faces compression from the RHA and subsequent de-compression from the composite layer and this breaks up the round's energy and stops it.
