Some more letters and fake money trail coming up from there??? Ab sharif family's problem is tht they cant disown the qatari letter in JIT, they presented in court.. Their defense and money trail to be presented in JIT, should somehow revolve around Qatar..otherwise court main jhoot bolnay par ek nayi museebat...... So maybe preparations underway to bring some more forgee documents from Qatar.. I hope unka bhi wohi haal jo qatari letters ka hua.. Still cant trust advocate and pakora judge, though.. They might accept these in NS favor.. But we still have some hope with Justice Ijazul Ahsan

While "donations" to all bars and journalist bodies have worked wonders; now Money Laundering is termed as "Political Case" by Amir Mateen's and likes - using same analogy if politicians murder someone it will also be termed as "Political Case".

Amir Mateen & Rauf Klasra are doing a good job - however I do not agree to his (Amir's) view when he term the Panama Case as Political Case - this is about kickbacks, commissions, money laundering, tax evasion - it's not political - it's a criminal case by all standards.

If even by error they start calling it a political case, then perception of defendants change and in case they lose they become siyasi shaheed and not convicted in the eyes of the public.

Bahi it was nothing. As i said in the past, SC have to maintain that balance of opinion. Kuch ni hony wala is ke base pa. Plus we all know that Advocate sb is quite biased in his views and opinions so. . . . .

Earlier this week, the honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan, pursuant to the Panama Leaks judgment, dated 20th April, 2017, constituted the special bench for monitoring the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), responsible for investigating the Prime Minister and his sons, in regards to the specific TORs contained in the ‘order’ of the honourable Court. The special bench constitutes of the three honorable judges, who formed the majority in Panama Leaks verdict – namely Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, and Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan.

Controversy over special bench
The proceedings of the special bench are aimed at satisfying such members of that (larger) bench who were not fully satisfied with the evidence presented before the honorable Court. In these circumstances, Justice Khan, Justice Saeed and Justice Ahsan are the only reasonable choice for the special (implementation) bench.

There was some needless controversy, immediately after the announcement of the special bench, about its constitution. A few commentators remarked that if these honorable judges were not satisfied with the evidence presented during the Article 184(3) petition, it is unlikely that they would be satisfied with anything additional that comes to light through the JIT. All such criticism is wrong and misplaced. It is a sage order, on part of the honorable Chief Justice of Pakistan, to constitute the special bench consisting of exactly the same judges who order that a JIT is formed.

The final report of the JIT, or any hurdles faced by it, can be best appreciated by members of the bench that heard the Panama Leaks case. And in particular, the proceedings of the special bench are aimed at satisfying such members of that (larger) bench who were not fully satisfied with the evidence presented before the honorable Court. In these circumstances, Justice Khan, Justice Saeed and Justice Ahsan are the only reasonable choice for the special (implementation) bench.

Ingredients & powers of Joint Investigation Team
Per orders of the honorable Court, the JIT’s will be housed in the Federal Judicial Academy, Islamabad, and will be provided an “initial amount of Rs. 20 million”, by the Federal Government, for its operations and investigative purposes.

During the last few days of the week, the special (implementation) bench finalized the names for inclusion in the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), as had been ordered in its earlier judgment in the Panama Leaks case. And, in the aftermath, the precise constitution of the JIT, and its ambit of work has provided much fodder for debate, in terms of political as well as legal implications.

To begin with, the names forwarded by the SECP and the State Bank of Pakistan (on Thursday) did not find favor with the honorable Court. Instead, the heads of these institutions were ordered, by the Court, to appear in person (on Friday) and deliver a list of all officers above the grade of BS-18, for the honorable Court to pick officers “with diamond-like integrity” (obviously a direct translation fro Urdu). As a result, from the very outset, this episode has cast doubts on the motive of different State institutions (especially under the control of Ishaq Dar) to carry out an independent and uninfluenced investigation.

Regardless, through the honorable Court’s interference, we now have a finalized JIT that will work under the auspices of the special bench. This JIT includes Mr. Amer Aziz (from the SBP), Mr. Bilal Rasool (from the SECP), Mr. Irfan Naeem Mangi (from NAB), Brigadier Muhammad Nauman Saeed (from the ISI), Brigadier Kamran Khurshid (from the Military Intelligence) and Mr. Wajid Zia (from the FIA, who will head the JIT). SBP guy, I was mistaken.. I think I was talking about some other Aamir.. But this guy is also very strict and honest..
MI & ISI.. everyone knows that they are very honest.. but can't defy orders.. (SECP/ FIA and SBP guys can..) This is in built.. Just for one case, we can't change the mentality and work ethics.. otherwise every other day, there will be a news story.. But their role is not going to unearth complex transaction details in my opinion. MI & ISI are there to keep PMLN goons away from pressurizing the JIT members.

All in all.. a very good JIT.. NAB ka mujhay abhi tak nahi pata..

The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) mandated by a 3-member Bench of the Supreme Court (SC) has commenced its investigations about the “Panama Papers”. History’s biggest leak ever included 215000 confidential documents revealing financial and attorney-client information about scores of outright criminals, drug smugglers, etc current and former world leaders along with their close relatives and/or friends linking them to tax evasion, money-laundering, etc.

Having off-shore companies to avoid inheritance or other taxes in the country of investment is not really illegal unless there is tax avoidance in the country of origin and money-laundering.

Examining the whopping 2.6 terabytes (2600 GB) data obtained from Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca forced German newspaper Süeddeustche Zeitung (SDZ) to request the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) for help. ICIJ exhaustive global examining collaboration included nearly 80 countries comprising more than 350 journalists.

Options for JIT for an effective Investigation
Having off-shore companies to avoid inheritance or other taxes in the country of investment is not really illegal unless there is tax avoidance in the country of origin and money-laundering. The SC seemed to have glossed over these salient points initially for lack of forensic evidence but has made up the gap by constituting the JIT. Forming the Jit the onus is on the Sharif family to provide the linkages between money transfer, taxes paid, etc.

Highly trained investigators looking for clues and evidence in the background of the accused use a range of tools including surveillance, records checks, informants, etc to help solve crimes.

People seem to forget that the bigger crime is giving false statements, magnified many times over if an individual is holding a public office or being related/associated with someone who does. Investigations include alleged violation of laws, by non-disclosure of means of income and assets, allegations of bribery and financial mismanagement including kickbacks, money laundering, internal control lapses and other financial improprieties, etc. The JIT has the option of using the latest software available in the world to uncover the complete records of those being investigated.

Highly trained investigators looking for clues and evidence in the background of the accused use a range of tools including surveillance, records checks, informants, etc to help solve crimes. The JIT constituted by the SC can tap into a global network of resources, supported by cutting edge intelligence and information technology for surveillance, due diligence, forensic accounting, undercover financial investigations, fraud, asset searches, etc.

Why did the Sharifs not sue Frederik Obermaier and Bastian Obermayer for such defamatory black and white accusations? In fact, the SDZ journalists have effectively silenced Maryam Nawaz by responding to her tweet labeling the “Panama Papers” as crap!

To quote Sparks Fly Chapter 10 of the international bestseller “The Panama Papers” by Frederik Obermaier and Bastian Obermayer (not brothers), “mentioned in despatches”, to quote “a trail leading to Nawaz Sharif, the current Prime Minister of Pakistan. In a critical report, the World Bank names two companies in the British Virgin Islands that Sharif is said to have used for questionable business deals: Nescoll and Nielson. Sharif is believed to have bought luxury homes through these companies, including in London.
