PLAAF inventory is 3 times of IAF and more importantly they have inducted 100s of 4th and 4.5th generation Air Crafts in last 5 years. So in my view IAF is not the 3rd best may be in top 5.

Hey the Chinese 4 and 4.5 Gen are really 3.5 Gen only. Obviously China wont say this on its own. Don't over estimate their ability.

We have our own regional problems, NONE of us including China want to go 5000 km's away and conquer some foreign land. Additionally, I don't think that our thinking is going to change in the near future either.

We are not barbarians and conquerors. What is happening now is that for the very first time in our histories we are becoming unconquerable. Nothing more, nothing less.

Mate we have programs to make a an aerospace power in the near future, but the thread title is not saying India is super power but in the making

One of the reason for not expanding is the availability of plenty of resources in Sub continent and China. The resources are enough to support our civilizations no need to conquer foreign lands.

I think you are not able to comprehend between licensed in house produced MKIs and PAF's F-16s which comes with US installed GPS tracking divces and various sealed sub-systems from which you can't even fire a single missile if US doesn't approve.

Pakistan Air Force regularly participates in Antolian Eagle Exercises and "fight" against NATO airforces, what do indians do? lols...

BTW, Pakistani pilots are deployed in Turkey and they fly *against* and *with* Israeli pilots regularly...indians don't get this chance...

Until the IAF becomes an Indigenous force rather than an Imported force, we can't be called a true superpower.

Imagine what will be the scenario when we will be on the verge of using our Rafales to strike any country we want, but since the French interests demand otherwise, they will stop giving us support with spares, source codes, etc making our Rafale fleet not worthy for the operation.

I think for this mess even IAF is responsible.

A jet like LCA, should have been inducted by now.

AMCA should have been in the research state rather than drawing boards.

FGFA should have been fast tracked.

Having said that, the PLANS of IAF by 2025 or so are simply amazing with some 120+ rafale, 100 or so FGFA, 100+ lca, 270 sukhois, 50 mirage (upgraded) + others lower gen fighters will be in the hands of IAF by than.

Which will make IAF an unchallenged force in the region for sure if not a Superpower.
