Fifth generation fighter crosses milestone

Meanwhile we get Asia's best air superiority fighter to another milestone. Sweet eh?

@sancho

FGFA will have Russian avionics. Besides,Israel or France as of now don't have 5th gen plug and play avionics available on the shelve. Least of all,it would be interesting to see how Russians allow Israelis or French joyriding its future first line of defense.

Depends on what you include here to avionics. The radar will mainly be Russian, most likely the IRST and the HMS too, but all other EW sensors in FGFA should be sourced from India itself, or from western partners. Also I highly doubt IAF will except an external LDP like the Russians seems to have in mind.
Secondly, SPECTRA EWS is basically a 5th generation systems, since it offers similar capabilities as the F22 or F35 systems too, not to mention that the Israelis are replacing US avionics on their F35s with Israeli techs, so they are available today.
The Russians have pretty good relations to Israel and France, not to mention that we have done similar with the MKI or the Mig 29s too, so I don't see a problem on that side either.

I was citing this.

India to use Russian avionics for future fighter

I appreciate your input.

There is another reason, China. India can not trust anybody, yes Russia as a nation has been a time tested friend but that doesn't mean all Russians are. Either via espionage or bribery sensitive information can land up in Chinese hands rendering these high tech fighters useless.

Ideally we should be making the avionics and mission computers all on our own to make sure no information falls into our enemies hands.
