FIFA Want Football In India!

How many Indian foorballers are actually from Urban areas? Not even 1%. And BTW a standard cricket ground is much bigger than a soccer ground.

but a kid won't start playing cricket on a big ground ....

. .
Today's football is perhaps 10% skill and 90% fitness. So rather than focusing on the technical aspects of football like short passing, possession football etc., we should first focus on improving the fitness standards of our players.

Even though environmental conditions in India are not conducive for outdoors training, we have enough money to build indoor training facilities. And the poor standards of diet should also be improved. It's not as you can't build muscle and body mass by eating only vegetarian food .....

After India won the Cricket World cup, I dont give a damn about Cricket any more.

I would love India to get into soccer, boxing, weightlifting, etc, etc, etc, etc.

I heard Indians in North East India love soccer.

Its team has a lot of people from far eastern parts of India.

Bro , I strongly disagree ....teams from the subcontinent like India , Pakistan , Bangladesh, SL , Maldives --dont have the required talent levels to play such sort of skillful football as the spaniards or brazilians or portugese do.

Such a policy will backfire bigtime .

THe way ahead for us , is the British/German way of strong , tall players with good physique ( for headers etc ) . And they should be given full support by the boards and govt in the form of proper nutritionists , physical training , strategy etc .

The short paas strategy works only when you have beyond par dribbling skills and the ability to exploit open gaps in seconds.

First German have changed their tatics to attractive and aggresive football. Wth their young players in 4-2-3-1 formation they like to dominate the midfield and control the game

If we are technically not that good then ok we may play something like this which proved to be successful.

but there is no reason we cant play short pass game. You dont need 11 players with dribbling qualities. Pedro, busquets, pique, puyol, alonso, fabregas, alex song, wilshere all these player are not known for their dribbling. But because they were grown up in academies where the focus is on passing they have an eye for a pass that opens up the defence. We just need that youth system. Unfortunately here in Pakistan there is no one (atleast what i have seen) trying to do this.

Agreed with the post except the first statement. Fitness is a mandatoey requirement for sports especially for being world class. There can not be any compromise. But beyond that , it is skill that makes difference among playes. So it is not possible a % break-down between fitness and skill. If you see the top players you can understand , without a certain level of fitness they could not have fully utilise their potential (i.e their skill)....

Alright

(a), Alex Song is a pathetic passer of the ball IMO. He's got great speed, but his passing skills leave a lot to be desired.

(b) Most of the players you mentioned are products of the La Masia. They have grown up together and have built an understanding of each others' playing style. La Masia also places a tremendous emphasis on stamina and physical fitness. That is why you can see the Barcelona players chasing after the ball towards the end of the match, while their opponents have tired out. If you see the stats in any Barca match, the top distance covered would be by Xavi and Iniesta. So fitness is the basic starting point from where you build your team, not skill.

Pakistan has done a good thing that is bringing foreighn born Pakistanis who are playing mostly in European clubs . If they can bring some success, it will bring the interest among people. That will bring investment for infrastructure etc....

At present 7 of your footballers play in England and Walse, one in USA, one in Denmark, one in Iran and Zesh Rahman now plays for Muangthong United F.C.,Thailand.

Agreed.

But the difference is that fitness can be developed while skill can only be honed. If you see the example of cricket, the teams which started playing late (Sri Lanka, South Africa after the ban, etc.) have focused more on fitness and fielding levels because they know that even if it might take time to hone skills from the youth, in fitness levels you can match the historically superior teams TODAY.

Ops. Never say bad thing about song infront of an Arsenal Fan
This season he has assists and his role in contverting defense into attack through his passes and close ball control was great. And no way a pathetic passer can be a first choice in Arsenal

Look at these chalkboard i have specially made for you. He distributes the ball well. Thats what a defensive midfielder is supposed to do

Fitness and training  thats what i am saying. You need need skills to play attractive short pass football. All you need is a good coach who makes his team a unit and give them the calmness required to pass the ball around. And of course for this you need players who are playing such football from the start.

yes but the field performance is not improving and with a spud as a coach how can you hope for a good result.

Hahahaha... anyways, quick question for you. As an Arsenal Fan, what's your opinion about the Cesc saga? IMO, having a captain who clearly wants to leave the club brings down the moral of the team. It's better to just let him go rather than distract the rest of the team.

.
Ofcourse they want football in India , with a country wth over 1billion population and it only has 1main sport it has very big potential for growth.

Getting a good domestic League is hard though as Australia(A-League) is finding out.

A player has the most assists in last 5 years in the 5 MAJOR LEAGUES OF EUROPE (more than inesta and xavi). He has played 250+ competitive games for a top club. He has played in UCL final at the age of 19. He is the European and World Champion. He assisted for the winning goal of the world cup and he is just 24. And this morning Barca offered Arsenal just 27 million!!!! Thats almost half of the out of form torres and 3 quarters of Carrol. He has a contract untill 2014. WTF is this. At the same time sanchez is being bought in about 37 million. go give that money to your mama barca. Arsenal dont want it.

He always say Wenger is like my father. He never said I want to leave Arsenal. He only said if i leave Arsenal i will go to barca, nowhere else. If barca cease to exist tomorrow he will end up his career at Arsenal. Thats what a fraction of Arsenal fans think. I am one of them

And the fact he didn't have the summer break for last two years has not helped him. He is injured for a greater part of the season. Thats why he has not given that much for arsenal this year. I think this year with a summer break he will improve further and will definitely give Arsenal 100%. He always give 100%. He is like gerrad. How Gerrad inspires his team. Not by shouting but by performance. Fabregas do the same but injuries have not helped him.

Hmmm, Barca don't value him too highly because frankly speaking, they don't NEED him. Even if he ends up at Barca, he'll be warming up the bench behind Xavi and Iniesta. They've bid 27 mil just to pacify the fans.

PS: Did Barca bid 37 mil for Sanchez? I thought it was a player + cash offer...
