As the "Arabian Gulf” phrase has been replaced with the "Persian Gulf” on the Fédération Internationale de Football Association website, a Kuwaiti football analyst has asked the President of the Asian Football Association Salman Bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa to sue the website to the President of FIFA Sepp Blatter.

وكانت الاتحادات الخليجية تسعي علي فترات سابقة الي نيل موافقة رسمية من الفيفا بشان الاعتراف بمسابقة كاس الخليج العربي للمنتخبات الكبيرة منذ فترة طويلة وتدوين البطولة ضمن رزنامة الفيفا .
وتمني البلوشي من الاتحادات الخليجية وبدعم كبير من رئيس الاتحاد الاسيوي الحالي الي سرعة العمل علي تصحيح المعلومات في صفحة الفيفا لا سيما ان ملايين متابعي نشاط كرة القدم في منطقة الخليج العربي يتابعون شبكة الفيفا الالكترونية وصفحات تلك الدول.

Well the problem is that Basra is not even at the shore of persian gulf.

Calling it gulf of basra is like calling it gulf of antalia .
Also there is another arabian gulf and calling Persian gulf as such will only make misunderstandings and is nothing but bowing to the wish of great Britain colonialism.

It's been known as the persian gulf by historians worldwide for thousands of years, i'd be surprised if FIFA wouldn't use this designation. Some politically influenced organizations are probably hesitant to use PG, because they think it signals Iranian dominance of that waterway/region, but that doesn't change the history a bit. Are they going to sue FIFA for following history or what?
