Female chess players protest wearing hijab at Iran world championship

Honestly this nonsense about clothes was hilarious, Iran version of hijab specially in big cities like tehran in many other muslim countries is not considered hijab at all .
When last sunmer my aunt after 10 years for a visit came back to Iran from USA ,the first thing she said was that the clothes she wear in USA for work cover more body than the clothes they were in Tehran.

I don't knew what in west they advertise about Iran I live innorth west of Tehran and the most covered women I see here are foreign tourists .

Maybe they know better... :D

.
I dont get it why is it an issue if the foreigners are non Muslim?

this is a dress a women will wear on her wedding. It is not for everyday use. In India women can wear anything from short skirt and tank tops to Burqas and Naqaabs
this dress is heavy no sane woman will wear it daily in a place where tempreture can reach 45C :D

Agree 100% , it's their country , so they can adopt any rules they want . If people are not happy with that the they should either leave the country or stay away from it. Period.
Same applies to some muslims protesting Burqa ban in western countries, if they don't like it then the door is wide open to leave, nobody is forcing anybody to stay, on the contrary.lol. :)
That argument doesnot work for Muslims from other countries most Muslim countries donot force Hijab

.
Their country, their rules.. i have no problem, same forcing of local culture should be applied to Iranian around the globe..

.
To some it means having this exposed :o::o:

Though having to play in a Hijab if you are not used to it may be tough.
It would appear that the FIDE rules support Iran.

3.c. The following is acceptable for women players

Women’s suits, dresses. skirts, blouses, turtleneck, T-shirts or poloʼs, trousers, jeans or slacks, footwear (boots, flats, mid-heel or high-heel shoes, sneakers with sock), jacket, vest or sweater, a scarf, as well as jewelry (earrings, necklace, etc.) coordinated to the outfit may be worn. Team uniforms, national costumes clothing.

3.d. The following is NOT acceptable for women players

Beach-wear slips, profanity and nude or semi-nude pictures printed on shirts, torn pants or jeans. holes, noticeable unclean clothing, sun glasses, sport caps. Revealing attire. Clothes such as denim shorts, short-shorts, cut-off shorts, gym shorts, crop tops, tank tops, and clothes made of see-through materials or clothes that expose areas of the body usually covered in the location where the event is taking place.

This is the only correct and objective post in this thread.

So they want to play naked in Iran? I don't understand this.
I hate when these ppl want others to follow their internal rules and values but they go crazy when another country
makes them follow its internal rules as well.
The west lost their minds from extensive abuse of drugs.

Nobody said that they want to play naked. Why do you assume that not wearing hijab/burqa = Naked?

They are following the maxim of your country your rules. Since they are unable to follow your rules they are not coming. They have every right NOT to come if they are unable to follow your rules

On the other hand the muslims go to west and then complain about rules. They can also say that since the western rules are opposed to our culture we will also boycott the west. I am sure west will be very happy if you do that

Why is madrassa education so poor that many of you don't even know what naked means ?

Didn't assume that but they got it to the next level, if they don't want to play wearing Hijab, then they stay in their countries and wait for the next round. it's as simple as that.
It's not a big deal. I expect myself to follow rules if I go to a Hindu village on Eid day, I wouldn't slaughter a cow there.
I don't imagine myself barking all the day on media because I'm not allowed to do that. I'll eat chicken and I'll STFU.

I support this protest!!!

Tough luck Iran. Check mate
Well the ones who wont attend will make a self checkmate as they try to make a political statement out of a sport competition. I wonder how much the chess federation like it.
By the way it seems on the matter. Law is with Iran.

It's not about knowing what naked means but it mostly about where you would draw red line ... different societies and cultures resulted in the different red lines ....
