Federal govt releases Rs5 billion for first ever regional grid in Gilgit-Baltistan

Federal government has released five billion rupees as first instalment for launching of first ever regional grid station in Gilgit-Baltistan.

This was stated by Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Hafiz Hafeez-Ur-Rehman while talking to a private TV channel in Gilgit.

He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is taking keen interest to make Gilgit-Baltistan a hydropower corridor.

The Chief Minister said the federal government has approved two energy projects for the area, having a cumulative capacity of one hundred eighty megawatt, which will be set up under the CPEC.
